Settings, battery - which apps are using the battery? Post a screenshot of that please.
Sure, but it doesn't really show anything (first screenshots are last 24 hours, rest are last 7 days) As I've already said, safari is the highest drain but then nothing else seems to be using too much at all. I hard close down apps after I finish using them so little running in the background. I deleted facebook as that was using a reasonable percent, but it hasn't improved since.

I had a similar effect from AirTags. It might be worth a try to disable Find My to see if that changes anything.

A more radical option would be to fully reset the phone and set it up as new.

Or even restore the phone from an iCloud backup.

Hey Rachel, as a last resource, whenever you have free time and only if you have made a backup before, you could try to restore your iPhone, preferably using a Mac, to it’s factory state. That way, you could discard if the Watch is really the problem (although it looks like it is).

If you don’t know how to fully restore an iPhone installing the latest iOS version using Finder, then forget my comment. Although it is quite easy if you feel ready to do it.

Sorry, I'm not sure you understand. The watch is no longer connected to my phone and the apple watch app has been deleted. So surely they should no longer be trying to talk to each other?

I am 100% sure this is due to the watch being connected previously, as it started immediately when the watch was connected and has carried on since, but what else can I check to remove other than disconnecting the watch and removing the app?
If I were in your position, I would set up as new.

Such a weird problem. The Watch isn't even associated with the phone anymore. It went in and blew up the phone and walked away.

I have an iphone 13 mini. The battery easily lasted all day, usually with at least 20% remaining at 10pm. Until I recently got an apple watch. Then suddenly my battery won't last past 3pm. After about 2 weeks of this, I turned off most of the alerts on my apple watch but it made no difference. Then I turned off the apple watch. No improvement. So I uninstalled the watch and removed the app, and yet, I'm still only getting to about 3pm before my battery dies. I've checked all the official guidance but I can't see anything that is killing my battery. My battery health is perfect so it's not the battery itself. Nothing else has changed except installing the watch - I have very few background apps and almost no alerts and as I say, it ran really well until I got the watch. What can I do to get my battery life back? It's driving me insane! Thanks
I too have experienced a notable decrease in battery life (about 20%) of my iphone12pro after I was gifted a new Apple Watch - and wear daily. I have a minimal number of alerts turned on the watch - I have not attempted to tweak settings.

There’s a risk this also restores the internal ”I had a Watch once” setting. But worth a try for sure.
That was my worry. I don't have any way of restoring from a backup that didn't have the watch, so woudl I carry over the error potentially? I
Are you still under Apple warranty? Worth contacting Apple.
no, just out of warranty.

Take a full backup before you experiment with new setup. You can always restore from backup. If the new setup works, contact Apple and let them know. Apple is usually helpful even out of warranty for issues like yours.

How many tabs do you have open in Safari including in Private Browsing? Your Safar is using awfully a lot of battery it seems.

Pairing an AW shouldn’t make any noticeable diff on your iPhone unless you’re actually working out outside that requires constant GPS usage.
It’s connected via BT LE which barely registers in usage. So there’s something else we’re missing.

My suggestions would be
1. Calibrate your battery if you haven’t done it in awhile.
2. Erase and restore using an iCloud/encrypted local backup even if it was with an AW paired.

Calibration:
- Drain it all the way
- When at 1%, enable Low Power Mode, disable Location Services, cellular data & BT. Airplane mode with WiFi preferred. Reduce brightness.
- Continue to use it minimally like just waking up the phone but not actually using it.
- Once it turns off, leave it be for 15-30 mins.
- Plug in and let it charge fully using an adapter. Don’t even unlock if you can and leave it connected for another half hour after it hit 100%.
- If it turns on within just a few seconds after plugging in then it’s not fully drained.

Some don’t go thru the hassle of disabling everything when the battery gets low but I’d prefer to not have a bad signal or an app cause a surge and have the phone shutdown when it couldn’t provide the necessary voltage.

Post back with the results if it worked.

there doesn't seem to be a "rogue" app.
Was this actually your 1st AW?

I am on my 7th AW, currently have a S7 and U2 paired, never experienced this, nor do I recall seeing this as an issue in the AW forum.

I don’t want to lose all my messages though :-(
I can certainly appreciate that, but, if you want to get back to "pre-AW" battery performance then I have no better suggestion than what others posted: reset iPhone and setup as new.
Maybe another try, pair your AW again, and assuming you get the same battery life as now (or worse), contact Apple support

If the battery has been damaged while the Apple Watch was installed there is no reason uninstalling the app or even resetting the iPhone would help. A damaged battery can’t be restored. It’s irreversible. I would contact Apple for a new battery. No luck it fails just after the warranty.

Is the battery in your iPhone an original one installed by Apple?

I'm not pointing fingers because I've mostly gotten third-party repair shops to swap my iPhone batteries. And the new batteries mostly weren't original ones from Apple.

However, I did experience these non-Apple batteries suddenly wearing out long before they should have, like at only 200-300 charge cycles or so. It was covered under warranty. But still.

iPhone batteries are supposed to keep most of their capacity for at least 500 charge cycles.

-If your iPhone doesn't have an original Apple battery then that might also be the worth looking into.

I bought the phone reconditioned but direct from apple so I think its got an apple battery. No idea how to check though. Its showing as 100% health.

If the problem seems to be connected with the watch somehow, then maybe try connecting the watch all over again.
Perhaps that will reset whatever rogue glitch is causing it

It could be due to signal searching between the phone and watch. If the BT or WiFi signal is weak between the two, you will see more battery drain.
I confirm it. If the environment is noisy in terms of RF emanations or the phone and watch are kept apart the battery will be heavily drained. Happens to me.

My guess is that Apple started installing cheaper batteries that do not last 4 years as those used to do, max 2 years before actual 80% cap. It probably has nothing to do with software updates or accessories like Apple Watch.

I bought SE 3 last year, from the very beginning it never held charge longer than 5 hours (5:30 with energy save mode), always becomes boiling hot when it is idle charging with something more than 5v, and most chargers I have at home are 10-15v.

How is that possible my ancient iPad Air 2 holds charge longer than my current SE?

Recently my girlfriend had battery replaced in Hague official Apple Store. It was literally written “genuine” in settings and battery was never holding enough charge. One day it was charging overnight and bloated🤦‍♂️

I mean, it is Netherlands, seemingly not some distant developing country where such stuff can be expected, and official Apple store where they are supposed to sell original batteries for those 100€. Niet goed.

Maybe if Apple gave more control to which services run in the background on iOS and allowed disabling them, batteries would last longer. Thanks to new AI features I think battery percents will disappear at 20% faster rate.

Thanks to my SE, now I am thinking of leaving it as a second phone and pulling a trigger with S24 (which seems like a better bang for my money vs iPhone 15 since it got 3 actual cameras, higher OLED frequency and hence less eye strain+120Hz refresh which is what I would call a must in 2024). Another reason is that I have seen renders for iPhone 16 and what I can say “I’ve seen enough”. It is ugly, I don’t want to buy pro model just so it won’t look ugly in my hands. Some can say “bro it is just renders”, but thanks to my experience with Apple leaks I know: if something was leaked in April or May it will look 99% like the render
