I scanned for a similar thread and did not see any.

The MacBook Pro 16 M1 Pro (base model, with 1TB SSD) - I thought battery life would really impress, but so far it's just been...ok.

I'm not doing anything intensive other than watching some YouTube videos (most not HDR) - don't see anything with significant energy usage, other than safari occasionally pops up as using "significant energy". Brightness is averaging 60% this AM. Started work at 830am and by noon was at 62% doing not a whole lot. Looks to be approx 3 hours screen on time.

I agree with you 100%, the battery life is nowhere near what I would have expected based on what I've seen people post since the original M1 came out last year.

I bought the 16" M1 Pro, 16GB RAM with 512 GB HD, just about a week ago.

I do all my intensive stuff on the work computer. My usage on the new MBP is about the same general type as you - a few web browser tabs, youtube video, terminal, Element app. It does have more life than my almost 6 year old Intel MBP.... but not by as much as it should.

I don't really _need_ it to last forever, I always use it at home with access to a power source, but it would be nice if it didn't seem like it's doing much worse than advertised.
