Anyone notice any improvement, I honestly don't see any improvement, still not up to 10.3.3 standards. 2hrs usage and i'm at 50%

Mine is great, it was great before. Whatever you had going on is clearly surviving an update so I'd guess its more likely an app causing it.

I did a clean install and set up as new phone. I downgraded to 10.3.3 today and I have came home from work with 82% battery, Yesterday with the same usage on 11.1 I came home with 60%.

The wife has the same issue on her SE

iPhone SE, Verizon 16GB. I had been running beta 5 for a few days and then just went with that since it was the same as the official build. I had been on 11.0 through 11.0.3 and battery life was always horrible on those, and nothing had changed with 11.1.

Yesterday I restored my phone as new and only installed 2 apps: GroupMe and Planning Center Services (as I needed those ASAP). I noticed my battery was back to that of 10.3.3, as I used the phone constant (Safari, browsing, etc). I got the same, if not better, battery than 10.3.3 (4 hours of usage before hitting 50% battery). I then installed Modern Combat 5 and YouTube and set them up. The results were the same, battery was still good. I just recently re-installed my 11.1 backup today and will see if I still get good battery. If not, I will just have to restore as new and install apps one at a time to see which is the culprit.

Hope it helps

YouTube app is chewing through the battery really fast.
Safari usage, 10% every 45min.

Not sure what to think at this time, I’m thinking it’s a bit worse.

Batery life not only depend on os 11 or os 10 .It depend on your brightness and your usage of iphone. chech battery draining in ideal condition on both os
I've flipped back and forth between 10.3.3 and all the various iOS 11 releases, all with same settings etc, battery is 30%+ worse on all iOS 11 releases. Even is standby the phone drains like mad where as on 10.3.3 it hardly drains at all. There is something wrong with iOS 11 at least on the 6s, this planned obsolescence may well be a thing considering the iPhone 7 seems to have been fixed by all accounts, the 6s and below not.

6s user here...I can't honestly say that my battery life has got worse with iOS 11.

Mine was worse the first few days on 11. It’s definitely back to iOS 10 standards now. I like 11.1

I've got fed up with all this hassle. It no longer just works as used to be the apple slogan. I stuck it up on eBay tonight. I've been thinking about it now for a while and this just gave the push I needed. The planned obsolescence worked just not in the way apple would like. I'm off to android for a while.

That's some amazing conspiracy on Apple's part when it would drive people away.

Exactly. I don't buy into the whole Apple slowing older devices down thing.

What's more likely is older devices struggle to run the newer more powerful versions of iOS; just in the same way that an older PC would struggle with the latest version of Windows.

I can now happily confirm, that battery life on my iPhone 6s+ with iOS 11.1 is horrible. Mainly with Safari and YouTube usage. Playing simple game, life battery is acceptable.

Also noticed same issue on my iPad 2017 9.7.
I’m calling Apple tomorrow and reporting the issue.

They'll just tell you about their fantastic new X you can buy and how you can buy that. It's a wonderful phone that will change your life.

But if you are of the opinion that the company essentially screws you over by making your device worse over time, why would you be interested in buying something else from them?

This is why you need to downgrade.
iOS 10.3.3, 6S

Beeeecause that's what I've read some people saying on this forum.... and it's very easy to deduce that there are people in the world that will never consider another cellphone product because Apple makes their products that well, and so those people will certainly buy another Apple product.

It's very easy to imagine that people chalk up a slow down to an old phone and say to themselves, "Well time for a new iPhone!"

Occam's razor, yes? ;)

My 6S which was a replacement from Apple in September ran perfectly on 10.3.3m Put iOS 11 on it and battery life is halved and runs like crap, Doesn't matter if you set up as a new phone or restore from a backup the result is the same. Roll back to 10.3.3 and normal service is resumed.

Make your own mind up, there is damn all wrong with the 6s, its something Apple has done.

Actually the 6s benchmarks significantly lower than the 8 or X. See here: iPhone 6s, iPhone 8, iPhone X. You're right though, it's something Apple has done - they've optimised the software for their latest devices instead of focusing on devices that are 3 generations old. And why would they? They're not making any money off people who hold onto their old devices. That's not a conspiracy, just common business practice. However, a nice side-effect is that it also makes for more stable software, which has long been a solid argument in the iOS vs Android debate.

Anyway, Apple don't force you to update iOS, so the choice is in your hands. Never update, miss out on new features, but keep the same performance as the day you bought it, or update and get new features but lose some performance. You can't expect the same performance out of an OS that's designed for devices almost twice as powerful as yours.
