Does anyone know if you can pay for the battery replacement whilst the phone is still in warranty? My warrenty will be up in January but my battery being at 86%, I would like to get it changed while it’s cheap.
My 8 was just under a year old when I paid £25 to have a new battery. Battery health was 89% and nobody told me it wasn’t necessary to replace the battery, they just went ahead and did it. Actually in my case they didn’t as they broke the internal WiFi antenna, so they gave me a new/replacement phone instead.

I just made an appointment for my backup 6S for this weekend. Things I've done (most not necessary) to prepare the phone:
1. Encrypted iTunes backup
2. Shut off find my iPhone
3. Restore as new using iTunes
4. Took multiple pictures of phones condition
I figured if they damage the phone and give me a replacement, I won’t need to worry about any personal data on the phone and if not, I can just restore to my backup later

Update:
Just had my battery replaced at Apple today and it took an hour total. Everything went well and they did a good job without damaging the phone cosmetically or internally..

I was quoted 90 minutes on a busy Saturday evening. Phones were done on time. My wife’s was perfect. They messed something up inside mine - Touch ID would not work and the haptic feedback from the home button wasn’t clicking the same as normal. All the diagnostics on their iPad showed everything was fine. They gave a choice of either opening the phone up to see what may have happened or for me to take a refurb replacement. Worked out perfectly since my sleep/wake button had become hard to operate a few weeks ago and was on its way to failing. “New” iPhone 7 for me!

took both mine and my wifes backup iPhone 6 to get the batteries replaced at our local Best Buy since the closest apple store is over 2hrs away. setup an appointment after work around 5pm. Got a call @ 8pm that they were both done. pretty simple and easy.

I kept my iPhone 6 as a backup in case one of ours breaks or we have to send it in for service and sold my wifes iPhone 6 to a co-worker. now that the phantom touch issue on my iPhone X is a thing - i'll have to use my iPhone 6 for a few days while i mail it out to apple.

Interesting outcome to my battery replacement on my X that was at 89% capacity. Didn't take long to get seen by the genius at my time. So she took it in and I come back that night to pick it up. So the tech comes out and says that the battery replacement failed and my phone got messed up. So I got a brand new X, doesn't look refurbished one bit, sparkly new and is working so much better than my other one which I got on eBay. Even better it was all covered under warranty and no cost for anything.

My launch day X is at 90% and my 7+ is at 93%. I’ll be getting both batteries replaced in the coming weeks before December 31st. I will definitely make sure I take pictures of both before taking them in.

Apple refurbs always look like new - brand new case/screen and battery, but with reused internals. Very nice to have a like-new replacement when they give you a refurb.

Got 7+ battery replaced this weekend. Went in like new and came out like new. They also replace the seals used for water resistance.
