hmm XR could potentially have great battery life w/it's lower res LCD screen.

XS max has reviewed to have great battery life already, if a true dark mode ever came to fruition it'd last even longer with the OLED screen.

Yes but I want to know why it last longer!? Cause of the A12, it’s like they put in a smaller battery cause they made it more efficient to even out. Why not keep making them bigger while more efficient to make it last even longer for the sake of there customers!

They made the xs more efficient than the x.
As some reviews pointed out the camera bezel is a little bigger on the xs so maybe thats why the battery size had to shrink, but im betting its the a12 being more efficient.

won't know for sure until a ifixit breakdown or something similar.

Cost - by keeping the thickness the same they can reuse more of the tooling from the assembly of the X (especially since the X is no longer being manufactured).

They are just making me more and more not want to do the yearly upgrades I have been doing since they started. It’s more about profits/investors than what is best for the consumer. The $400 increase in 2 years with the other things is just sad. I think I will be keeping this years model for years now.

As a corporation, maximizing shareholder profits has always been of primary importance to Apple, that said I do feel like it has become more obvious to people that profit is their main driver as they are running out of opportunities to increase profits by increasing sales so the last few years they have been mostly increasing profits by increasing the average selling price of their products. Of course that can only be taken so far as the market will only bear so much so it will be interesting to see what happens in the coming years - I suppose that is why Apple is pushing hard into services.

Also, I used to upgrade my iPhone every 2 years, however I have now had my 6s for 3 years and even though I really want something shiny and new with current cost of iPhones (and the fact that my 6s is still running great, especially with iOS 12) maybe I should hold out for one more year. The only thing that is really making me want to upgrade now is that I want a better camera, and I think the cameras have come a long way since the 6s. I'm waiting to see what the Xr is really like and then I'll decide...

Well they are making them last longer, iOS12 has older phone owners not wanting to upgrade. This year has been the most lackluster launch in recent memory. People are already not upgrading as much but that could all
Change with the XR. Phone sales year over year has already topped out so they have to make more per handset. Services is there next best thing for them. Also depends on what they come up with next year! Only the premium customers will upgrade often everybody else about every 3/4 years.

Yup, they figure make the phones last longer. People won’t uograde as much but services will always be there so they make it up there. It’s the customers that leave is what will hurt them. Depends on what they make next year if it has that wow factor. But the XR will get all those 6/6+ people to upgrade this year.

Apple has always given us “about a day” battery life. I could easily look past this IF they offered the amazing Apple smart battery case for the plus sized phones, but it doesn’t look like that will ever happen. Most likely that product has been phased out now that they don’t have a small phone like the 6/7/8 that has a tiny battery.

No fast charger has never really bugged me as much as the size of the batteries being so small compared to the size of the phone itself. I get it that it’s got a ton of stuff inside, but they could make it a few mm thicker and add a much appreciated 500mah.

An iPhone battery champ, yeah. Apple has standby drain down to a science. If they ever gave us a large battery it would probably be the thing that brought a lot of android power users over.

Apple has never been all about giving people a ton of perks. Fast chargers should 100% be included, but it’s Apple.

I saw something recently that said the #1 Apple accessory sold at Best Buy over the last 2 years was a headphone dongle. People are all making money selling Apple accessories.

I think that the 6s is the first phone that is showing us that you don't need to upgrade more often than every 3 years or so to have a perfectly viable phone.

I'm still running a 5S which works perfectly fine on ios12. Decided to upgrade to the XS solely for the camera.
