Battlefield 2142 v1.5 Update for mac?

I am never going to buy another EA game again. I was a big fan of BF but what they are doing now is just a punch in Mac-users face. They don't even bother to post more than the short message on their website............
Btw the connection issue to the masterserver is not fixed yet either. Some days I can't play cause I can't connect to the mastersever...... an issue which is suposedly fixed in the new patch (maybe only for Windows too).
EA Games burn in Hell, medium but not too cross please
 
Yes, not even the courtesy of a message to the mac community. It's not like they don't have the freaking money to do the job.

That's what pisses me off the most. Hard working folks like me shell out cash for the games and then those !$#%$^ are too busy driving their ferraris to support the user community.

I too will no longer be buying any EA games.
 
@Ramused: I don't exactly know what you mean. In case I understood you right, no I do not have nor intend to buy Nothern Strike BF! I paid 60 Euros just for BF and I don't think I want to spend more on EA Games
 
does anyone know if you have to get the patches in between for the patch to work.... like if you had the very first patch ever made and you wanted the newest one, would you have to get the ones in between for it to work?

Wallak92, there is only one official patch for BF2142 on the Mac and that is the 1.40 update.

Presumably you will need the 1.40 update installed prior to installing the 1.50 update (please note: 1.50 update does not exist and may simply be lip service from Electronic Arse.)
 
Stability

Just got 1.5, can finally play with some talented players...

How is 1.5 for everyone? operation shingle is a brilliant map, probs the best of all in my opinion. Wake island on the other hand, is hugely unstable on my machine. By that i mean the graphics fuzz on things such as the trees and outer buildings. When i walk into the titan while defending, the screen blackens (the scenery that is, the 3D map is still there) so that map is pretty unplayable. Which is a shame as I bet you can get some great pitched battles on there.

Am I alone with these issues? if not, will EA actually do anything about it or just leave us for another 2 months? my bet is they don't do a thing.
 
1.5 update

See, good things do come to those who wait. Who would have guessed.

And before we all start bitching, I think we should say thank you to everyone at AE for not forgetting about us.

Now for the bitching:

Was a pain in the ass getting it loaded. Downloaded the patch, then it told me I had to reinstall the game, then the do the patch again.. then success.

Honestly, by the time that was done, I was too tired to play the game. I did poke around on wake island... it's different, that's for sure. didn't play long enough to board the titan, so was not able to notice a darker screen effect. I did notice however, that the graphics on the ground were "fuzzy" until you go closer to them. things in the distance are a little distorted.

Does it snow on Wake Island? it's in the south pacific, is it not?

no worries. problem is there are still only about 7 servers up. i hope this isn't a dead game. can you play with windows based computers? just wondering if everybody we play with is mac only.

You may want to double check your patch installed correctly. As soon as I installed the patch there were tons of games available. These are servers for mac and windows players

I'd like to hear what happens when you do enter the titan, as I discovered yesterday that it is not just wake island that the titan is blanked out (while inside). On all maps, on entering the titan, it is impossible to navigate as it is blank. So now i can't assault the titan. thanks EA, again.

7 Servers? Yah as the above, you might want to check your patch installation. Everyone on BF2142 is platform independant, meaning PC vs Mac vs PC vs Mac etc it doesn't matter. Everyone plays each other, no special servers for specific platforms. The servers that are listed at any one given time are more than likely linux servers. Last I saw early this morning there were 137 servers. There's more but those are the ones my connection can see.

My son plays on a PC and I'm on a Mac.

There were about 130 servers available yesterday - definitely not a dead game!

The servers accommodate Mac and Windows users. You'll be playing with both groups.
 
got it. i ended up reinstalling the entire game and updated to 1.5. Shame that a newer game requiring intel chips, and such demanding hardware can't incorporate widescreen support. ea never seems to amaze me with their general lack of support for their own games.

In the windows version (the one I have) you can add wide screen support by putting it in the command line of the shortcut you use to launch teh game. I've been using widescreen forever. I doubt you can do this with OS X though since OS X doesnt have command line functions for launching apps from what I can see :/


Is this game good on OS X? I always read it was a p.o.s. that didnt run well. Is it worth me rebuying to play in OS X?


(Edit) Also, does it require the DVD in the drive to play? If so that will be a deal breaker for me. In Windows it does... but usually there are no-cds to get around that.
