I live in the US.

Mac Frenzy is very real, esp. is major urban areas on the right and left coasts!

And esp. with the 20-35 year old set.

I've seen men get the logo shaved into the backs of their heads!

Anecdotes != evidence of widespread behavior.

Urgh, this is just cringey. I could never be a part of that.

I like Apple products, but I am not "loyal" to Apple - their products just tend to suit me better than others to some extent. When a new Apple product is announced, I get excited. But I also get excited when glasses free 3D TVs start appearing at consumer shows, when new headphones are released promising awesome sound quality etc.

I am a technology geek, and love every bit of it. Apple just happens to be a major role in that, but not the only role.

When you are at a Stevenote, and a product like the original iPhone was announced, I can understand the frenzy and cheers inside the keynote audience. But on the street because a product is released or a new store has opened... urgh who cares!
