That's strange. You could try contacting AOL?

I didn't try AIM, I used my mobileme account though.

I'll try adding my AIM later and see if it works. Maybe AIM are having issues.

I didn't call AOL -- I have been just a free user for many many years now. I read on a blackberry forum about beejive that older screen names with 8 character or less passwords have issues nowadays. I'll try downloading the offcial aim client for mac and changing my password through that.

Does this client use your text messages to send and receive like AIM does?

Are you sure? I thought I read somewhere it does. Hmm

It only uses text messages if you have the AIM service setup to text you if someone IM's you while Away or Offline, then the AIM service texts you and like if in the US you get charged for incoming texts (which is stupid I must add) then it counts as a text.

Will logging in on my MSN account on this app disconnect me from MSN on Adium and vice versa?

I read somewhere that the new MSN Live Messenger will allow multiple logins, but that may just be client-side and require Live Messenger?

Some text message info for those interested in Beejive:

  • As jaseone mentioned already, Beejive can be configured to forward a notification to an email address when the user is offline. If your provider allows email-to-text (like "yourcellnumber@txt.att.net") then you can get text-message notification if you use this address. This is how some people have enabled "push" notification via SMS.
  • When configured to notify an email address, Beejive also forwards system messages. The "you're signed on in another location" -type messages are an example.
  • Set up as above, Beejive can generate a lot of text messages. Some people pay for every text message, some have a certain number per month, some have unlimited texting. But chat messages are not sent as texts. Beejive can be set up to use text messages for notifications, but this is entirely optional.
Regarding the AIM app, it does not send chat messages by SMS (meaning text messaging) either. You can, however, set a preference through a client like iChat or at settings.aim.com to enable text-message notifications when the user is offline. This is an AIM system setting and it's independent of Beejive and other chat clients.

Theres no invisible for Gtalk?!?!? this makes the app worthless for me as i like to see who's on the desk at work undetected!!

I must be missing something because Google Talk app doesn't have this listed either and the error makes it sound like Jabber doesn't support it.

Google does support it, as it works with other clients and Gmail chat. Beejive doesn't do it!!!

And there's no kiss emoticon?!?! wah? am i missing something? there's all the other useless ones??

Love IM+

I am IM+ fan. IM+ costs 9.99 and ties together multiple messaging tools (Skype, Facebook, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber, etc.) via a single interface. Even Twitter is supported. SHAPE announced also speech recognition and nice smiles in the next version which is under Apple review now.
