jethatfield: I tend to agree, but still, if people who use Macs like Macs so much that they give them a high degree in a user satisfaction survey, there has to be a reason for it.

Also, as I understand it these are percentages needing repair as reported by the users not by the tech-people, so the people who need help setting up their wireless network and consider it a "repair" could happen on the PC side as well as the Mac side.

to answer your second point, macs have been and are so much easier to set up...so there are fewer calls there...microsoft could learn, or steal, he he, a thing or two...apple is into KISS, "keep it simple stupid" and it works...os x is not as bloated as windows xp

to answer your first question, let's take a simple point as opening up a mac...remember that first impressions are very important here...look at the elegant packaging inside and out and ease of setup...many non technically inclined people can probably set up a mac themselves just based from the onscreen instructions

and also, macs are just plain "cute" and apple has, i think, learned something from hello kitty and cabbage patch kids...most pc machines, except for sony and a select few, are not that pretty and very utilitarian looking and resemble, even in their packaging and instructions, a piece of office equipment

apple's slightly better product has on its side the most fantastic industrial design for the machine, and yes, the packaging, thus ensuring a great first impression and things like that last and create loyalty

now if macs were big ugly beige boxes and still got the top consumer ratings, then i could say it's very possibly due to quality of the hardware, or of os x over xp...and xp is a nice os, and perhaps because they copied os x...but as for stability, xp is every bit as good as, or better, than os x

still, again, apple has the best overall package taking all things into consideration and if us macheads stuck with facts and not hype, pc users would discover macs on their own and not be put off by such mac zealots that resemble dianetics or the jehovat witnesses

You may well be right that some Mac users can be as fanatic as AMD supporters, but the megahertz myth thing was and is true and even Intel has stopped pushing for megahertz alone. So don't use the megahertz myth if you want to give an example of Mac reality distortion fields.

you bring up a good point, but i think the mhz myth is profound among the distortion reality fields that pc users will bring up

my mac is slower, but i don't care because it's more user friendly

look, i do internet, email, school work and research, and rarely games so i really don't care if someone's pentium 4 hyperthreaded machine is 10% percent faster than my power mac...really, who cares...but it sounds stupid when i say my power mac is faster than that pentium 4

and yes, amd users are fanatics sometimes...i am one of those, too...but they are not plain crazed like many mac users

again, the best points of view i have seen are from people who use both the pc and mac and see both the positives and negaives and i stand with apple inc, but only slightly so...that's all

if apple inc tanked, i would be very sad, but i would not drive up to sf and jump off the golden gate bridge ;)

brian or brain :) ... some say tevanian or ivie are the real brains behind apple inc

along with jobs, i think they are an excellent team, and if there is a great leader in apple named brian, then kudos to you, too, brian ;)

i did know one of the CFOs of apple inc who was a family friend and he didn't think their business strategy was as good as their design...but reality, fortune mag, and gates and dell, on top, is the proof in the pudding

it takes more than a great machine and a great os to win in this computer industry game....business and the war of market share play a huge part and apple inc has been sorely lacking, compared to hp, dell, microsoft, in that department

that being said, i am only one guy, and i am happy with my mac as my main machine, overall, and it the machine doesn't perform based on a 2 or 10 percent market share on any given month ;)

Arguments are usually much more convincing when they use proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and words. Use that brian!

Brian had a movie about his life...he must be pretty important.
