As you can see from this thread there was more than one version.

Does you skin protector stick to the Belkin when putting it on. I noticed the Wrapsol doing that so I have to make sure I kind of shove it in there and then snap the two outside clips on to the ipad.

Yep the skin is quite tacky and sticks to the cover. But I've lubricated the corners with a bit of spit and it still doesn't go. It's actually quite a way off fitting. I'm not sure it'd fit without skin.

I've had one on my wife's since they first came out. It's been removed several times. Just checked and no cracks.

Will this snap shield damage the edges if you keep taking it off and on? I have a snap shield from incase for my iPhone and every time I take it off the edges and side look all dirty and it doesn't even fit correctly like I feel it should.

If I buy this I'll probably have it on when I go outside or while I'm multitasking and setting it on a table or something continuously. Does it defeat the thinness of the iPad when your using this and the smart cover or is it pretty lightweight? Thanks

I think this really remains to be seen. I know I have taken mine on and off all the time, for the past say, month and month and a half and I just noticed the fissures yesterday.

If you have both a screen protector on and a skin protector, and I am not at all sure about this, but it very well may be the that the added thickness is slightly stretching those snap closures and creating the fissures.

The shell had to be designed to more or less the exact dimensions of the Ipad, and given the overall thinness of the shell this could be what where going to see over time.

Just a theory.

Thanks for the heads up, I guess ill just have to live with the smart cover only for now unless something better pops up in the future for the back. I don't need protection for dropping damages, just protection for the back getting scratched when I set or move it on a table...

The solution in the short run is to get a skin for the back right away. I have always found the Wrapsol, to be the best, especially since they have a guarantee for lifetime replacement.

I just ordered a replacement for my MacAir which was peeling at the edges, cost me $5.00 for shipping and they are sending me a new one, great company!

I have the snap on shield from The Joy Factory on my iPad 2. Does anyone know how much thinner the Belkin cover is?

I was looking at the Logitech Keyboard/Zagg case at Best Buy last week and one of them happened to have the package open. I asked one of the BB sales persons if I could see if my iPad 2 would fit face down into the case with my back cover still on. It didn't.

Has anyone tried the Belkin snap case with the Logitech Keyboard/Zagg case?

Thanks,

Rick

Went back to target, exchanged case with cracked corners for a new one (smoke). New one had the same sharp burrs the last one had. Burrs are fairly easy to remove with a nail file or whatever, just kinda obnoxious that Belkin doesn't add a step in the production to remove these. Perhaps the clear version is a better option, as my original didn't have burrs or cracks, FYI, clear is now 29.99 at best buy, not sure if this is a sale price.

I have been using this case as I wait for the switcheasy coverbuddy to arrive. Trust me, the coverbuddy feels MUCH better and seems like a much more detailed product. Also it's cheaper.

I am going to return the Belkin case now.

My only issue with the coverbuddy is how much space is left open where the hinge goes. If it was like the Belkin's with almost no space at all, it may be the perfect back shield.

I just looked at mine and it has a big crack almost a half an inch long near where the smart cover attaches to the iPad in the corner. I am glad I still have the reciept. The look for a case is back on. I am looking at the tucano stuff now.

I have had no major issues with my clear one. To me the Belkin would be perfect if it had some sort of grid over the speaker. iLounge posted pictures of a smoke one from Belkin. Weird how much open area there is where the hinge attaches, and the earphone cutout is different shape the the ones I have seen...

The camera hole is bigger and the hole for the on/off button now has an edge, instead of being open at the front. I can't believe how many versions of this case there are, not very professional on belkin's part. I wonder if they ever settle up on a design, they'll replace all the previous ones with flaws. I bet they left more room at the hinge so the iPad doesn't fall forward while standing in landscape with smart cover. I noticed due to the thickness of the case it pushes it forward a bit.

If this is the case, the switch easy may be the best one. I love how little Belkin leaves open next to the hinge.

Hmm, I wonder how many of these are affected with these cracks, and if getting them is inevitable under normal use, I only removed this case one time.
Maybe an exchange is futile.

I noticed these last night. I have one of the first batches that was available at BB. All four corners are beginning to crack. I've had the case off once to clean it.

I will take some photos tonight.

As promised - here are the photos. I love the case, but I'm very disappointed on the quality. My iPad has been babied and has been out of the house maybe 5 times.

Yikes! and to think, they were charging $40 for this cheap piece of plastic that cracks under normal use. Belkin is a big name in the case business, hopefully they'll get this straightened out. Glad I bought mine at Target, gives me plenty of time to return it when something better comes along.

Got my new one today. It has a clear belkin logo instead of the white painted on version.

Everything else pretty much matches up, full coverage all the way around. See if this one develops any cracks.

Where'd you get the version with the clear logo?

I had the smoke cover, which developed a crack in a corner near where the smart cover attaches. Called Belkin and did an exchange. The new one they sent has a bigger cut out for the smart cover, and a straight edge where the volume and mute button/switch is. Overall, the edges feel smoother on the new one, and doesn't dig into and hurt my palm the way the old one did sometimes. The fact that the volume button is now in this sunken hole in the plastic makes it a little harder to press, but I like having the straight edge, so for me, it's an ok trade-off. Not sure yet about the bigger opening for the smart cover, haven't had a chance to really use it propped up yet.
