If its only your house location that lacks AT&T service, you could request ATT to set you up with a microcell. Microcell is a private tower transmission within the confinements of your home that uses your broadband to route calls.
IMO, the iphone surpasses all the phones in terms of functionality and ease of use. If I absolutely have to switch, I would go with the nexus one.
