Looking to sell my iPhone and get a next gen phone like the nexus 5 but it can't be 5 inches I want it more like 4.3-4.7 as all my jeans are fitted . Any recommendations something epic that I won't get tired of and want to switch back to iPhone please

If that is the size phone you want, I highly recommend the moto X. All of the major carriers have them in store so you can check it out before you buy. The size, battery, and added features are all great. You are basically getting a nexus phone with a few nice additions.
Either the Note 3 or the G2. I didn't like the UI on my Galaxy S4 and it was pretty Maggy so that left a sour taste in my mouth. That (and the ridiculously huge display) are what made me decide on getting the G2. Another reason, although this may not apply to you, is because of the developer support it has and will be receiving in the next couple of weeks.
There are already stock Android ROM's for the G2 (even on Verizon, crazy right?!) and when the Nexus 5 comes out the ROM's will just get better. I can't say the same for the Note 3. However, if none of this applies to you then it comes down to just a few things: display size, phone size, and UI. Personally, I think LG hit the sweet spot with the G2. The Note 3 is just too big and has an inferior display (IPS LCD > AMOLED). About the UI, LG has done a surprisingly good job. Yes it may look ugly, but so is Touchwiz (they look nearly identical). The difference is that LG's UI is far more customizable and IMO, less bloated/laggy. I can't speak to how the Note 3 performs with Touchwiz, but I'd guess it runs it without any lag.
So, in the end, they're pretty similar. I think you should go buy the G2 (or Note 3) and test it out for a week or two. if you don't like whichever device you bought just return it and try the other. Let's us know what device you choose!

unfortunately if you want a high end Android phone, they are all very large in size. Most high end models are 5"+
The Moto X is more of a mid-level spec'd phone. It has been out for a while now, and is getting $100 price cut (off contract). I personally would not want to buy a device and expect it to last for a couple of years if it isn't a higher spec'd device. Buying something in the middle ground and expecting it to compete with devices 2 years from now is unrealistic when it can barely keep up with devices on the market right now.
I do like that moto hardly messed with android on the X though. I would be looking for a nexus or google play device to get the pure android experience, which really lowers the number of phones to choose from, but at least you are not stuck with bloatwear and stupid skins that look ugly. If you want a 4.7" phone, I think the HTC one google play edition would be the best bet.

I wouldn't focus too much on the specs as android has become more optimized. Plus, it runs just as fast and smooth as any phone on the market.
The Sony Xperia Z1 Mini looks awesome for a small android handset that doesn't compromise on the flagship specs.

maybe it runs fine right now... how about 2 years from now? A higher spec'd device is going to run better longer, that's all I was saying. I never claimed the X doesn't run well right now. It's a fine phone, but personally, if I was looking for a long term phone, I would want something with the best specs I could find. And the camera on that X, really meeeehhhhh!
I'm sure it would be fine in 2 years. The point is software is so much better. I bet I could get another 2 years from my nexus 4 with no problems
Oh that camera is definitely the weakest point.
its a real shame all the phones now went up to 5 inches -_-. and it would kill me to buy a nexus 4 LTE because of last years specs.
is there really no phone with a snapdragon p800 processor 2gb ram and awesome battery life in the less than 5 inch category ?
i would be okay with a phone like that if i wasn't getting an iPad air and an iPad mini instead. but since I'm getting the air i want my phone to be as light weight and portable as possible. getting a 5 inch device is only 2 away from a nexus 7 lol. not ideal for someone who runs pools in the summer. just want a very compact sleek device thats all. would be a shame if i had to stick to an iPhone lol its great absolutely no problems with it but it gets boring fast not being able to transfer and create documents out of a file system and being forced to dropbox everything
edit - the moto x was my next highest choice after a nexus 5 but i NEED a good camera many times i have to take pictures of filters and send them back to my maintenance department and if the camera can't pick up fine details it won't be good use. my iPhone 5 did this very well so i need that factored in. i might just bite the bullet and get a nexus 5

nexus 5 is just under 5" specs and dimensions of it were released early this morning.
like I said earlier, the HTC One is only 4.7" has a sleek design. Camera is not as good as the iPhone 5, but it's better than the moto x. Especially in lowlight situations.
I would get the google play edition over the bloated carrier versions.

Is it screen size or the actual phone size you want to be smaller?
The HTC One is 4.7 inches but has a very similar chassis size to the G2 with a 5.2 screen. Going simply on screen size you'd end up with a somewhat inferior phone when you could have had the G2 which is the same actual size.

Yep as recommended by myself above. Really great specs and a decent size for those who don't want bigger phones.
the xperia z1s does look Almost perfect. it includes a sd card slot while the nexus 5 does not. the only downfall is nexus has 1080p screen and z1s has 720 ;[

Last year, when I went from a 3.7" phone to a 4.8" phone, I thought I wouldn't like the size. I eventually got used to it and am now very comfortable with the size. There was an adjustment period, but I can't imagine going back to a smaller screen now.
If light weight is what you are looking for, you may want to consider a Samsung Galaxy S4. It is very light. I'm not a specs guy, so I'm not exactly sure if it meets your minimum specs. You can check out the specs at gsmarena.com.
Keep in mind that the nexus 5 is smaller in use then something like a galaxy s4 because it uses on screen buttons. In reality its more like 4.5-4.7 inches. Also consider the moto x, since that seems to be a great all around phone as well.
