nexus 5 is just under 5" specs and dimensions of it were released early this morning.

like I said earlier, the HTC One is only 4.7" has a sleek design. Camera is not as good as the iPhone 5, but it's better than the moto x. Especially in lowlight situations.

I would get the google play edition over the bloated carrier versions.

Also, nexus 4 does NOT have LTE.

The Nexus 4 does have HSPA+ which is essentially entry level 4g. While it may not offer the full 72Mbs it does offer 42 for carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile (Pending market) In real world it is more than ample for most nerds...

That being said I would buy the Nexus 5. The best thing about the Nexus line is you get the updates first run. (If that matters to you) I personally love the purely vanilla experienced on a Nexus or Google Play Edition running stock Android.

Thanks, but I never said it didn't have HSPA+ I said it didn't have LTE because the OP claimed:
it would kill me to buy a nexus 4 LTE because of last years specs.
I was telling him that the nexus 4 does NOT actually have LTE.

well if you think you are going to get that price, you will never sell it.

You would be lucky to get ~$300 or so for it at this point.

I was able to sell my iPhone 5 for $350, but this was before the iPhone 5S was released. You need to lower your price if you want to attract buyers.

Even gazelle was offering $300 before the release of the 5S and now they are only giving $250 for a 5 in good condition.

If that is the size phone you want, I highly recommend the moto X. All of the major carriers have them in store so you can check it out before you buy. The size, battery, and added features are all great. You are basically getting a nexus phone with a few nice additions.

Tmobie doesnt have them in store. You can only get one from Motorolas website.

If big phones were allowed, I'd say the droid max developer edition. But for smaller phones, either a gs 4 mini or htc one mini.

He said he wanted a phone without compromise.

Those two have flagship names but are very very very stripped back in comparison to standard flagship hardware.

Only the Xperia Z1S currently offers full flagship specs in a device 4.7" and below albeit with the caveat of a 720p screen.

I too have noticed the drop in demand. Apples done an amazing job of selling the same design year after year. Sooner or later it gets old. That time may be now.

I know you wanted smaller but TBH, because the phones are mostly all screen rather than bezel they look bigger than they really are. When I first bought one of the larger phones I was a bit worried that I wouldn't get on with it or it would be difficult to carry, neither of these worries materialised, it took about a day before I was used to the size. Quite frankly, I could not ever entertain another phone with a smaller screen. I love iPhones but the (for me) screen size relative to the size of the phone itself is just to small (IMHO, too much chin and forehead and side bezel)

Here is my Samsung Galaxy S3 underneath my iPhone 5. Remember a Galaxy S4 is smaller than the S3 but with a bigger screen.

hm. great options here. the htc one is now close to being 2 cycles old however. i like the look of it a lot however. i still really like the xperia z1s and the nexus 5. the galaxy s4 seems like its already past my time.

remmeber im going for a next gen phone where the screen size + bezel dont top off to 5inch.

2 cycles old??? It was first released like 6 months ago, and just recently released on carriers like verizon a couple of months ago. Not sure what makes you claim it's "2 cycles old" It's not even 1 cycle old yet.

No, the HTC One is a 4.7" phone with high end specs as well.

Apart from the camera ;) but it's feels bigger than its 4.7" screen mostly due to be the excellent boom sound speakers adding height.

Whoops was thinking about the HTC One X their first one ,

Reason for not wanting to switch to a gs4 or the one ? They are not next gen , I'll be itching to upgrade in the spring ! Where as the z1s has the s800 ,

Played with a G2 today. Loved the performAnce but could not live with a phone that thick . Waiting on some new releases

haha agreed.

The camera is however much much better than the Moto X camera, especially in low light situations. It still isn't as good as something like the iPhone 5 though.

Too Thick? The G2 isn't thick. Not sure what you mean... Compared to what?

I too am surprised you thought it was too thick. The display is on the front, not the side - was that the issue? Did you think it was too thick but super narrow? ;)

Anyway, yeah... what is appreciably thinner in your experience?

hm. hard to explain. so it's an edge to edge screen with close to no bezel right ? the back of the phone now has to curve into the screen and is making it a lot thicker because of this bulge where as an iphone has the same square dimension all around . i definitely liked the snapdragon 800 processor and can appreciate the g2 but i dont think im going to go that route.

apart from the slimness of some of these phones i cant imagine even getting a case for any of them to increase size and weight. im going to be traveling with a tablet, another work phone ( last year they gave out GS III's ) so thats why im being picky on my personal phone that i want to last until next holiday season.

Nexus 5 is the best Android phone with the emphasis on Android because it is branded by Google. The latest Nexus generally will have the latest, greatest, and purest Android mixed with the latest SoC. So from a pure ANDROID software standpoint, Nexus 5 it is.

BUT based on hardware, it may NOT be the best. Other phones have better design, camera, display, sound quality, longer battery life, and unique hardware/software features based from the OEM. It becomes harder to say because it all depends on which criteria you value more in a device.

You really can't go too wrong with most of the 2013 Android flagships. Ever since the releases of Jelly Bean 4.1, Galaxy S III, Note II, and Nexus 4 last year, Android has been a great platform to use that the OS doesnt hold back the hardware like it used to. Now it is the other way around where hardware is what holds it back.
