Try selling a Lumix versus a D-Lux and you will see that the Leitz will have cost you no more than the Panasonic
And don't forget that it comes with Lightroom and is a better camera
That's bang for your buck
a used LX100 is currently less than a new one ny about the same amount as is the case with the Leica, but when it is superceded the LX100 it will have dropped the greater amount since it does not have the same lasting appeal and there is lower supply and therefore altermatives for your used Leica.
Not sure why you would need to resell the camera that you just purchased but last I checked a 9 condition D-Lux was $850 and a Lumix was $530 at B and H. The Leica is losing 19% and the Panasonic is losing 24%. Problem is the Leica costs more to begin with so you are losing $200 and $170 for the Panasonic. You still have to lay out over $1k for the Leica new.
You need to post actual data showing this. I’m a numbers guy.
The Leica was $1200 new so based on what you have found the loss is $350; the Lumix was $900 new so the loss is $370. I also believe that once these models are obsolete, which is when the OP is likely to sell it, the difference will be more pronounced.
You only have to lay out about $300 more for the Leica, including Lightroom which you can sell. The OP strikes me as a guy who appreciates beauty, quality and heritage, so I think he would get a lot of pleasure from a Leica, not to mention the gorgeous cases and other accessories.
The D-Lux is $1050 new (Source B&H + Amazon)
The Lumix is $700 new (Source B&H + Amazon)
The D-Lux is $850 used 9 condition (Source B&H)
The Lumix is $530 used 9 condition (Source B&H)
D-Lux lost $200
Lumix lost $170
Only $300 more? The OP is looking to purchase a camera in the $300-$400 range.
OP strikes me as a guy who is dipping his feet into photography and isn't looking to spend $1,000 in the process.
You're looking at the current new prices, not the prices paid for the ones now being resold, but nevertheless the D-Lux will be the first to sell. Panasonic has dropped its new price not only by a greater amount, but also a much greater percentage, which undermines the used value.
You assume too much. A luxury, once sampled, becomes a necessity.
Rob, Take a look at the Ricoh GR or GRii , APSC sensor, excellent 28mm fixed lense, that matches just about any of the best prime lens out there. I have owned mine for over two years and some of the photos taken with it are stunning, almostI'm sure the answer changes often, so I'm asking here.
I mainly photograph watches, but also occasional pics of the family, landscapes etc. I just want something that can take incredible photos easily. I'm tired of the average images my iPhone 6+ takes.
I love the quality I see from people who use DSLRs, but I'm assuming there are some point and shoots capable of comparable quality these days, right? I just want easy. Also, compact is nice for traveling.
Nikon P340 (i have earlier P310, an incredible model)I'm sure the answer changes often, so I'm asking here.

your cell phone cameras are better most times then point and shoots, spend a few bucks get yourself a nikon d3300 kit and be done with it if you are never planning on shooting sports you will be fine.. not worth messing around with point and shoots..I'm sure the answer changes often, so I'm asking here.
