can't use any of them in Sweden

The ebook market is really crazy. Most of the publishers like Barnes&Noble are not interested in my money - they don't sell outside of the US. The kindle app is not available here, even if it was I doubt that they are interested in my money. I can order a real book from almost any online bookstore but they don't allow me to buy ebooks. There should be some law against this!

There is actually a way around this with the Kindle app. Create a US iTunes account with a bogus address, then you can download free apps from the US store including the Kindle one.

Then create a US amazon account. Buy a voucher from the US store with your Swedish account and send it to the email address used for the US account. Then login using the US one and spend spend spend on Kindle books. They'll all be there in the app waiting for you. Whilst not ideal, it works perfectly well once you've got it all setup. I've got around 10 books so far using this method and I'm in the UK.

For me the best text reader application is Easy TXT Reader. It has own text engine. It open not only txt files, it open all text files: txt, html, fb2, xml and others. Html and xml tags processed by built in engine. The text is good looking for any format (text hyphenation work nice). Encoding detect automatically. More than 30 settings, different control schemes, different brightness control schemes. Program have a good-looking interface. Files could be upload by USB, WiFi or URL. Program also has a text search, text selection and even text translation. Also this is very fast program with file indexing and all settings are unique for any files. After update (v.2.0) it's really best program for reading all the texts. App-store link: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=321793546&mt=8

It is frustrating that so few pay to play readers exist - and for customers in other countries, they don't work. Still among the big three, I prefer Stanza, though eReader had my interest for a long while.

Here is a comparison of them. But, if I am using languages which read right to left and up-down, I prefer iBunko, a Japanese reader (which has file (not just book) swapping capabilities). They are all very good and get use from me all the time, but iBunko and Stanza are now my defacto choices for reading.

Stanza is very good application for reading. But there are a lot of bugs with some languages in hyphenation.
iBunko - is funny tool:). But it cost too much... And does iBunko support autodetection of encoding? Does iBunko have text hyphenation?
Easy txt reader is very cheap and quility software. And I know, that nobody know about it. That's why I wrote about it. Every text (html, fb2, txt, xml) is opened and viewed by Easy TXT Reader like a text formatted book. Easy txt reader also support auto correction of lines breaks, smart justify function and simple built in html tags processor. And really, every text is good looking. Also you can annotate text, select crop to clipboard and translate! It's really best text reader!

I would not buy books that are limited to only oen reader. too much of a chance that the reader may vanish and your stuck with books you can't read.

I prefer the Kindle app, although I do wish I could import my own books (unless I can, which I don't know how to do)...

I don't like Stanza for a few reasons: (1) all formatting is lost, INCLUDING paragraph breaks and page breaks and everything else. Sucky. (2) I can only transfer ONE PDF from my computer to my iPhone app at a time (again, maybe I just don't know how, but apparently it's not intuitive enough)... that's a pain, because I have a lot of PDFs and don't want to transfer them one by one.

open up each pdf with a new copy of stanza then you can download all of them that are open. if you download the books from a store they keep the info but converting them you never know.

Easy TXT Reader

I prefer to read text books and Easy TXT Reader is the best app for it!!

It has autodetection encoding, text hyphenation, search, justify text, translate parts of text by Google Translate and many others features (a lot of settings to customize reading)!

And it is easy to upload books. I can do this via Wi-Fi, Usb or URL.
For more information about uploading I find on their site: http://creaturesdev.com/products/easytxtreader

And I think this program which has a lot of fuctions is cheaper than it deserves! Only 0,99$

Easy TXT Reader also have friendly interface like this:
