best browser to use on macbook?

i used firefox in the start as i always had but it froze a lot and then unexpectedly would quit all the time.

camino was fine but now it's even starting to hang around startup.

are there any other good browsers or tweaks i could try that would stop this from happening?

I dunno, how about Safari? There are Opera and Shiira too...I dunno, I generally use Safari.

Try reinstalling Camino and see if that helps it.

I use Firefox. I do get the occasional(about 2 times a week) crash but nothing I cant live with.

I've never really liked Safari, don't know why but I've just never warmed to the look and fell of it.
Confusingly, I use Firefox with the iFox theme which makes it look like Safari!

i'd reinstall FF. i've been using it for a long time now and it's been absolutely stable on my c2d MB. even the beta of .10 and the beta (or is it still beta candidate?) of FF3 is stable on it. few or no crashes at all.

i choose FF because it's so customizable. TMP for the tab tweaks and the session restore keep me with it.

I use Camino and Firefox, different setting regarding proxy, No problems whatsoever. Remove the prefs/cache directory, keep your bookmarks.html file, and you are ready to go. Get the latest, and be careful with the extensions, adblock pro is the best to go

I used to use firefox, but recently I've been trying Safari. There is no noticeable difference in rendering speed, but Safari starts up faster than Firefox which is nice.

The only thing that is driving me crazy is the lack of a quality ad blocker for Safari. PithHelmet works well but seemed to be making Safari go really slow on some pages (using Leopard here with some sort of beta of PithHelmet, so that might have something to do with it). Now I'm messing with using a custom CSS (which you can apply to all pages in the advanced tab of Safari's preferences) to block ads. Its working, but nowhere near as well as Adblock Plus in Firefox.

Me? I use Camino 1.5 nightly builds:

Just as stable as 1.5.3 more stable than the nightly builds. Works beautifully with Leopard.

Though those programs are not as user friendly and do not auto update as adblock does, to quote a previous post:

I've noticed that Firefox is miserably slow on a PPC machines, especially with flash, and AJAX elements. The intel platform though has no problems.

I use Safari sometimes, but Firefox is my main browser. For my Firefox add-ons, I employ Adblock and NoScript - you just can't get any safer!

Firefox for all the extensions Soon (next year now) Firefox 3 will be released which should be more native to Mac and therefore shouldn't crash as much.

Safari is OK, but coming from Windows (and Firefox) I find it's got a lot more options.
