You must be either outside of the US or it's been some months since you last checked, because all US Best Buys now carry the iPad.
I know of a few "new" Best Buy stores that didn't have iPads or Macs right away. I was traveling and stopped by the one in Columbus, IN, which opened in August - in mid-September, they still didn't have iPads or Macs, but were going to get iPads "soon". As for the Macs, they had no idea when that would be taking place, but "probably not within the next year". Maybe I could be wrong and/or the guy at the store could be full of crap, but supposedly new Best Buy stores don't get the entire Apple lineup for awhile.
I am a Geek Squad Agent at a store in Indiana. I talked to our apple rep and he said that they havent sold any appletv's to best buy and are still in negotiation stage. From the sound of what he said it could be a while....I am waiting.. but im not in that much of a hurry. When we get them ill probly pick one up.

Unless you want to "optimize" your new Mac @ Best Buy, which is highway robbery! Use the gift cards on iTunes gift cards and you'll have plenty of credits to purchase media from the

That's what I ended up doing - I figured I could always use a couple of iTunes bucks for apps, music, and giving away for the holidays...shame you can't pay for things at Apple with iTunes Gift Cards. I picked up an Apple TV at an Apple Store, mostly because I'm going to also be the guinea pig for a family member who may get one (lives a few hours away) and a friend. Since I'll probably have to set at least one of those up, I wanted to have some time before the holidays to play around with one - mine's been working great so far and was almost too easy to set up.

This has nothin to do with how you feel about geek squad and there service This is about Appletv and I was just giving some credible information from an apple rep. However we do not offer Mac optimizations only on pc I will say there are Many incompetent geek squad agents but that doesn't reflect all of them. Also please tell me when apple starts offering a protection plan that will cover you laptop when you spill your coffee on it or drop it off a table. That may not be valuable to you however it is to a lot of people

apple is EXTREMELY particular with their products. Basically stores have to prove that they are good enough to carry their product and it is also really expensive. Per store it costs in the area of about 800k to get them to become a Mac certified location! They also have bad habbits of holding product back to create more demand. This is rather evil for the impatient. For the patient its just a little road bump.

So I keep getting the round around too. I use to work at Best Buy and it seemed as if I was the only knowledgeable Apple person there and I worked in Home Theater. I've been an apple addict since 03. At any rate, when the computer system says, "deleted," it does not mean they are not carrying it, it only means that they have not designated it. If it says discontinued it's another story, obviously.
It's very frustrating to see this happen on a daily basis. I did see on the site a few weeks ago that it was available, on the US site. I just went onto the Canada website and they have it for sale, odd???
I too have a store credit that is buring in my pocket and I am thinking of selling it to someone for cash so I can just go buy it at the Apple Store. I would agree with one of the posts that they are losing people buying it from them. I know apple loves to hold product back to increase demend, love it!!! Kidding.... At any rate, I am really hoping they get it before XMAS, if they don't I will buy it from Apple directly which I really don't want to do... Please help Apple and BBY, we are all waiting.

I know that was the case with Apple early on, especially when they couldn't make iPads fast enough that Best Buy got it, and then everyone else did only within the last couple of months. However, the Apple TV is a-plenty in Apple Stores, from Apple.com, or at various other retailers that have less of a partnership with Apple. I really hope that you guys get it, too, even though I got some iTunes cards with my credit and the Apple TV at the Apple Store. Thanks for the update!
now, after waiting for several weeks for apple tv and into thanksgiving, since I still don't see it on best buy US site/stores, we can conclude that best buy will not be having it in near future.
I also again called the store which was mentioning to wait for 2-3 weeks and they would surely have it, now same store said that they will probably won't be carrying it because they think google tv is much better

Best Buy is a huge seller of HDTVs and they now sell their own line of HDTVs. My guess is that since Google is partnering with TV manufacturers to offer their platform, Best Buy wants to cozy up with Google on this one and not push Apple's TV based device as it would compete with their own potential offerings. I expect to see Best Buy's own brand of TVs to come with Google TV software by next year.
Yeah, effective seller of google tv means more business to them. And selling Apple tv is just one time profit + killing Google TV sale.

Should be available soon...they became available on montrose store on 11/23.The ones around here still don't have them. At least that's what the website says.
I broke down and went to the Apple store today and picked one up as I needed a new case for my iPhone 4. Wow, there was barely room to move in the store.
