Awesome! I was waiting to see if there was going to be something like this. I was hoping that with Software Authentication now available for HomeKit, that they would enable the ability to just have it inside of HomeKit. I am building a Raspberry Pi anyway, so I can get it set up through HomeBridge once all of the equipment comes. I am going to get it also working hopefully with my Wyze cams, and other things like that as well.

If all else fails, I am going go ahead and try to go for the Home Bridge that is sold by Chamberlain themselves. I am a little annoyed that this stuff isn't built into the main device.

I thought this thread was about Best Buy Garage opener? Start a Chamberlin thread if you want to talk about that please.

Yeah. I have one of these and currently it isn't working with homekit. I can see the status but I can't open and close the door. Chamberlain knows about this and isn't doing a lot. I have upgraded to newer hardware and reset the system (which is time consuming) numerous times and it fails after a short period.

Best Buy have the Insignia Wi-Fi Garage Door Controller for HomeKit available for $44.99, which is $25 off regular price.

I installed one a couple of days ago and it has worked great so far. No app or subscription needed. Just setup via the Home app. This is a much better option than using the expensive MyQ products from Chamberlain/Liftmaster.

If you read the first post - which I have graciously provided for your reading pleasure above - the MyQ product and Chamberlain are each mentioned and are the foils against which the so-called Best Buy product was being compared. So my post about a possible change to the Chamberlain products which could address one of the concerns voiced by the original poster - lack of HomeKit/Siri support - and is, therefore, quite relevant.

Edit: Siri Shortcuts on the MyQ app would also remove the need for a hub. Thus this might address ALL of the OP’s concerns - Siri/HomeKit control *and* expense. I think I’m ok here.

That is nice, but wish you would still start your own thread. Could care less about MyQ, since most posting here own the Best Buy Garage door opener, so not relevent at all.

I will post here about MyQ insofar as it relates to the original post and nothing more. That defines what is and is not relevant in this thread. You do not get to decide that, unfortunately.

You weren't even the thread starter. I found his posts relevant. If you don't want to read what he has to say then simply skip past it.

Interesting, as that is around the time I stopped getting notifications. I wonder what happened?
Well I gave up on trying to get notifications working. Then this morning, for no reason at all, the wife and I both started getting notifications again when the door opens and closes. After 3+ weeks of nothing, it all started working today out of the blue. Since we didn't reboot anything, or take any action today to resolve it, I have no idea why we would both suddenly start getting the notifications again. But at least they're working. Finally.

That is funny. Notifications started working for us this morning too. I wonder what happened?

So, now my insignia garage door opener is getting no response. I replaced the batter, but that did not work. Any ideas from fellow owners?

No response in the Home app? I experienced this for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Ended up power-cycling the thing. Didn't want to hassle with a ladder so I just did it at the breaker box. After that, it came back online and has been good since.

Yes - I reset everything last night, but can't figure out why that happened. Hopefully, it keeps working now

Anyone looking at this, I would not recommend it. It seems like it gets too many no response for no reason at all. Replace battery and that is a short term fix. So far, very unreliable and I have a solid wifi connection too. Too bad....

I suspect when they say "Requires strong WiFi signal" that's really manufacturer code for "Our antenna sucks"

Notifications stopped working for me and the wife again a few days ago.

As for the dreaded "No Response" in the home app, I see that from time to time too but not constantly. Still, it's frustrating that there's any intermittent connectivity issue. I've learned more than I ever cared to know about Homekit, WiFi, Bluetooth and reliability over the past year. These IoT WiFi devices tend not to play well at all with 5GHz networks. A good 2.4GHz signal (With in some cases a separate SSID) seems to make them happiest. Don't even get me started on Bluetooth LE... lol

Yes - very frustrating. I wonder if the Chamberlin is more reliable? Too bad, as when this works it was good, but very unreliable and not worth the purchase for anyone looking at these.

Just a public service announcement on the Best Buy one:

Remember to change the battery in the slave unit that gets attached to the door. I had some funky behavior with the opener, and while there were a few different reasons for that, changing the battery made a significant positive change.

Unlike other HomeKit devices, it doesn't look like this one will tell you the slave battery is low.
