No there is not a $75 insurance plan. You pay $15 a month on a credit/debit card and if anything happens they will repair/replace your iPhone. No deductible so it is worth it and better than paying SquareTrafe over $100 then a $50 deductible. So you come out of over $150 dollars then they send you a check for $399 minus the $150 you already paid them for a 32 gb iPhone You are really only getting $250 then you go to Apple and pay $699. If anything your better off with no coverage and paying Apple $199 for a out of warranty repair.

15x12= $180 X 2 = $360  that's crazy what is bestbuy thinking I think at that price I would buy it smash it in front of him and say i'd like a new one I decided I like the other color better. they are crazy.

I lol'ed at this.

What if you happen to "lose" the phone? : )

What happens when you lose the phone? nothing like anytime you lose a phone. I thought we are talking about options when you break or water damage your phone. I was comparing BB and Squatetrade. I personally like the BB protection because if something happens to my phone today I only paid them $30 and my phone will be fixed. But one plan is not going to work for everyone.

So

Did he end up just getting a 32 gig instead or what?
Why not just order your iPhone online and used that card.

BB sends it in to be fixed with about a 5 business day turn around.

I haven't bought the iphone yet.

I am waiting for BB to have it available. I cannot redeem my BB Gift card anywhere else. I wish I could just go with AT&T or Apple to buy the iphone with the BB Gift card. Anyway, Thanks for all replies. I guess I started a flare. This insurance issue is truly a heated issue and is getting me dizzy. I will try to get the story also form BB. Now, I heard that Farmers insurance offers a good price for insurance over personal valuables. Like a $30 year to cover an iphone... What do you think?

If you can get it, yes it's a good idea.
But most of the companies such as state farm that have offered it through home owner's insurance no longer do.

Squaretrade is totally worthless if you do the math. Starting with the iPhone 3GS, if your phone is dropped and needs to be replaced you are out of pocket over $350 with Squaretrade because they only give you $450 for a phone that will cost you $699+TAX replacement for the 32gig and charge you a $50 deductible and on top of that you have to repurchase the insurance for ANOTHER $100+ on the replacement phone. No peace of mind for you, just for Squaretrade because they can't lose. It's even worse for the 16gig. Do the math.

No offense, it's stupid no matter how you look at it. You can have the same exact peace of mind w/ SquareTrade.

Still waiting...

No positive reply from Best Buy. They told me that it is "up to Apple when to send them the iPhones". They don't have a date of arrival for the "drop in shipment".

:(

did you talk to a Manager

talk to the department manager there are several things he might be able to do just depends honestly on how bad he wants to help you. one other idea if you want to try it you could list the bestbuy card on Ebay say $25 less then face and there is 13% cashback right now you don't pay it but they would save $25 and 13% down the road. little hard to explain just one other thought. I say make friends with the Department Manager!

oh start calling them everyday what the heck!

$15 is RIDICULOUS. Anyone who pays $15 for this insurance is a sucker, period.

+ 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! !!!

Consumer Reports magazine will tell ya that you're literally PAYING to gamble something goes wrong. They also point out that things are most likely to go wrong during the manufacturer's warranty, w/e the product is.

Truth be told:

* Suckers by EWP (extended warranty plan)
* Pay for food/drinks at the concession stand at movies

If the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) could outlaw these type of "offers", they'd be doing something for the protection of the consumer.

It is $15 a month for the protection plan because it is a $600 phone. So 15 x 24 = $360. They are betting that 2 out of 3 people won't break their phone once during this period. That's actually a pretty big risk considering how many people break their phones constantly.

To be honest, things like this happen. And some people just have bad days and it affects their work when it shouldn't but it does, we're all human. I mean, I had a bad day but I wasn't rude to my customers but I wasn't as helpful as I should be.

I do know that I go out of my way at Best Buy for my customers. I make sure they are all checked out properly and that nothing goes wrong. But I deal with computer sales. I haven't heard but good things from customers about our protection plans and if I didn't believe in them, I wouldn't sell them.

EDIT: Macshill you are completely wrong. They aren't extended warranties anymore. They changed about 2 years ago to protection plans. Reason being, they protect more than just the manufacture warranty, ie power surges, bad batteries, etc. It's a service rather than a warranty and a protection plan. Also it is dealing with people face to face rather than over the phone and getting charged for shipping costs. Now I'm not saying it's always difficult to work with people over they phone it just you don't get body language which is a huge part of communication.

It was my birthday, and I got a Best Buy gift card. So I went to Best buy yesterday to get an iPhone 16 GB 3GS and they were out! They only had the 32 GB. I was unhappy. They told me that at least the whole Northern California and Nevada is depleted and have no date for replenishing their stock.

Now I have a Best buy gift card and no iPhone.

Sad.

Also, they advertised their warranty and I thought to be far better than apple care since they will replace the iphone even on accidental damage. So, I stumbled with this in their own forums.

What do you think?

:(

First thing to remember...I'm going to teach you something in life....Don't buy anything at Best Buy....

If they going to screw you over once...they will again...BB service plan is ********....Use to work for them when I was in college...hated how they treated customers and tricked them....The GM (general manager) only cares about percentage on store performance so he can get a bonus in December....You are better off getting iphone at Apple store....

But since you have a gift card from them....use it and learn from the experience...Also if you plan to keep the iphone forever than get insurance other than that...IPhone is cover under 1 year...so by next year...you'll have another iphone so who gives about insurance....and if you manage to mess up your iphone by dropping it and etc.....bring it to the Apple Store...tell them what happen and they will only make you pay 199 or 299 for a ref. iphone....still that is cheaper than paying insurance....

be a smart shopper man...damn.....they got another one.....

So explain to me 2 broken screens and a water soaking best buy sends off to their polic provider and I get a new or refurb phone. Only once did I get hit with the $50 deductible.
If I went to apple apple care doesn't cover the above damage.
Please explain how my bb service plan isn't working for me and how apple care or the apple store is a better option.

First off...how did you manage to get your screen broken two times and have water damage....Seems like you don't need insurance you just need to treat your things better......Also, It's seems you making stuff up.....Because it's easy to say it on a forum with out proof....do you have proof?....I have proof here for you...Look around this forum...how many people have walked into an Apple Store and got their phone replace for free or pay a one time amount and got another iphone at the store that day....

If you read the forum...and search half of the time BB would not cover what the majority of the problems people have on their iphone....Like yellow screen and etc....

I have my iphone replace 5 times for little defects at the Apple Store......Would BB insurance cover that? I don't think so....

Use to work for BB and my friends work for them....BB insurance is 100% profit...it's because they hardly cover it for people....you are paying for something that help keeps you asleep at night.....

I called a BB an hour away from my city

They said they may have them this afternoon.

I spoke with 3 different reps.

One said that they did have an insurance for $75.00 one time fee.
Another said that they will charge me $14.99 one time fee.
Another said that it is a $14.00 monthly.

This is crazy:D
