They don't delete your reward points... i.e. the credits you get towards discounts are preserved. They DO require you to earn a certain amount of points in a calendar year to maintain or achieve silver status (which I have). They actually include January, btw. This is pretty standard for hotel and airline programs. You keep the points but it's the status that requires a number per calendar year.
No, they told me that points now start over every year. It's a new policy. They say they informed members about it last November. I think I earned about $30 or worth of coupons last year, so it's not like I wasn't using the program enough. But they deleted all my points at the beginning of February, right after anything accrued from XMas shopping in December would have registered.

But that's fine. Micro Center has a new store around the corner. I like it better anyway.

Here's the email reply I got from them when I asked why my points were gone.

I hope this email finds you well. I am sorry you were caught off guard by the annual program change, but I think a lot of people were. I am a reward zone member too and we work hard to earn those points! We sent out an email about this new policy in November of last year but you might have overlooked it. Because you were unaware of the change, I would like to give you back the points you lost. They will post back to your account within 3-5 business days. Just remember that your points are going to start over every year from now on.

Well, it's not the case for Silver. I can 'bank' my points indefinitely.

I do wish I had a micro center nearby, though, or Fry's.

If you haven't checked your account lately you might want to. ;)

Honestly I don't really care that much. RZ was only a mild incentive to get me to shop there, and now I have no reason to go at all. I just thought the change was poorly conceived by them.

HEH, sucks to be you. I live 2 miles from:

Best Buy
Frys
Microcenter

Up until a few years ago, I also had a CompUSA and a Circuit City as well.

Where are you, Santa Clara? I used to live in Palo Alto when I worked for Sun (1988-1993). I used to 'hit for the cycle'... go to all three area Fry's in one day.

Duluth, GA... I'd say I WISH Santa Clara, except for the insane housing prices and the earthquakes... :)
