Please post if you have any information about Best Buys in your area with stock.

Actually, preferably if you know of any stock in the DC area.

I would like to buy from BB since I'm silver reward zone so I get 45 days to try with no restocking fees.

BB never answers the phone so there's no way to call like at the Apple store (who are great at answering I have found to be the case) and no one seems to know when their shipments come in.

None today at BB Gaithersburg. No deliveries expected today. They thought a truck might come in tonight so early tomorrow?

I know Pentagon City is sold out. They only rec'd 10 and sold out immediately at 5pm. I was aiming for some RZ points plus I had some RZ points to use, but no dice.

AFAIK iPad shipments are coming direct from Apple right now, not on the regular BB delivery truck. It's probably luck of the draw b/c as you say customer service is pretty pathetic.

I don't know about DC, but I know the two closest to me (Delaware) only had 5 each of the 3g's (2 16's, 2 32's, and 1 64) and they were all sold out before five via tickets. Wifi ones still not in stock at either location.

That's why I tried at about 10:30 this morning. I thought Apple would Fedex in a box or two like they did for the WiFi launch. I was a little surprised when the clerk said wait for the truck overnight because clearly that would be a BB stock truck.

If anyone today says they hear of a Fedex delivery to any BB store today, then I'll try again later today.

Hoping to get some stock reports today...

I will head out around 11 to see if shipments are coming in today but if anyone can save me a trip (or alert me as to where to make a fruitful trip) it would be appreciated.

You can see if they're in stock by going to the BB website. I just checked a few mins ago and none of the stores had anything in stock.

Don't trust the site, it might not be updated yet for the iPad. It said sold out at a number of stores that actually had stock.
OP: Get a speaker phone, and call all the stores in the area. They do eventually answer, it just takes a while. That is what I did in the DC area. Called and called, and when I found a store with one, I asked them to hold it, and they will till closing time that day.

Why did you start this thread? If you go to BB's website, you can check the stock levels. Simple as that.

Have you seen one listed in stock at the website? It shows, and has been showing no stock in the DC area, but despite that I have seen them in stores in stock. You have to call.

That's good to know. As of a week or so ago they weren't even presenting stock for iPads. Thanks for letting me know that it's an option now.

Now, not sure that I trust it. I bet they sell out before they even hit the inventory list.

Let's see your "Thread Police" badge there, pardner.

I took your advice and tried calling again. This weekend they did not answer the phones at all. Today 2 of the 3 did answer the phone. I was quite surpised.

Tysons and Gaithersburg have none. Tenleytown did not bother to answer.

Website says no one has any. If anyone does get one in the next few days let us know, and let us know if the website stock reports were correct. TIA.

FWIW I was at the Bailies XRoads store over the weekend and out of curiosity asked at the Geek Squad counter if they had any 3Gs. Was told to check back Tues. If none came Tues, then Fri. Not sure if this is there regular truck or if they know of a def. UPS/FedEx shipment coming their way. As always, it's BB so take with grain of salt.

My local BB showed the 16G Wifi in stock on Sunday, along with the 32G. Went to the store right before they opened at 11:00AM and sure enough they had about 8 units (2 16G, the others 32G) locked in a cage. I bought the 16G for my wife and checked later in the afternoon on their website as I was curious...they were all gone by late afternoon.

Actually yes. I check daily, and every so often a store will have them in stock. As soon as I see one in stock, I call to verify. They usually last a day, then go out of stock again.

Yes, I found a 64GB 3G available in Abilene TX on Saturday.

And they still have them today..

Not trying to be the "Tread Police". I myself am looking forward to BB getting these back in stock as I plan to buy one- so I do have an interest, but with over 1,000 stores, I think a "you know any store in the nation that has them in stock" thread full of "well they were out Friday at the Paramus Mall... ect ect.." is going to kind of counter prodcutive... don't you agree?

And name calling really does not add to the discussion either...

I called the BB at Potomac Yard hoping to hear that they are receiving more 3G iPads

Lady told me they have no idea when they are receiving more units and she personally told me that it is better to call the store rather than checking online. She said with this high demand, they usually dont update online because they will sell all of them in store already.

Just a quick scan of BB's website shows many of the Chicago 'burbs still have the WiFi 64G model in stock. No 3G's, however.

Does anyone know if you can be put on a waitling list at BB and possibly even prepay for the iPad?

I asked, not in my area. I tried the Premier Silver ploy and got nowhere, although the lady was nice about it all.

Sorry if I was being snippy but there always seem to be bashers out there lately complaining about threads.

While we can't post stock for 1k stores, we can get an idea of what's happening across the chain. For instance, I had no idea the website had some stock information now. I had no idea that BB would answer the phone (they never have for me). It's also good to hear how frequently they are coming and in and when they seem to be coming in. All good information so far helping me track one down.

My addition to the info: was told tonight that the units are coming in on regular BB trucks and not via special Fedex or UPS deliveries. This is a change from the Wifi only release when the initial units were coming from Apple directly and not the BB warehouse. Also told that trucks come in the morning (at least at the one store) rather than overnight. Helped me because when I first heard the next truck was Wed I thought overnight Wed and to be there on Thurs. As it turns out its Wed morning so without that information I would be a day late and an iPad short.

Seems like my strategy now is call around at 10am and see who's getting a truck that day and pick up a unit somewhere between 10 and noon.

I'm sure there's a reason and I don't mean to be annoying by asking ... but why don't you just order one online?
