Best external HD for new 27"imac i7

Hi I work mostly with photoshop (raw file conversions) and will be learning imovie to finally take the old *mm Hi8 and Dv tapes that have been in a box to convert them to DVD's

• 4.0 GHz Intel Core i7 (Skylake)
• 8GB of 1867 MHz DDR3 RAM
• 512GB Flash Storage
• AMD Radeon R9 M395 GPU (2GB GDDR

For those that have similar iMacs and similar uses what HD (s) do you recommend for storage of files
