Best Gaming Experience you've ever had on a Mac?

I guess the title says it much. I'd like to see some recommendations.

I used to play Unreal Tournament 2004 around 2005-7 and it was probably the best game that I've ever played in my life. I enjoyed it so much that I shed a slight tear whenever I remember the good times playing that game. I never played online, and stayed offline to experiment maps and mods with 32 player bot matches. The game felt perfect overall, and the vehicles and the weapons felt amazing. It was the only game that I felt any sense of camaraderie with the computer-controlled bots on the same teams, probably because they had relatively good AI, spoke random crap, and did their job to push the game. With all the maps, mutators, and mods, it was endless fun for me.

I bought Unreal Tournament III on my Xbox 360, but it didn't even compare with 2004, even in the aspects of the artstyle.

Crystal Crazy on my old Performa was pretty awesome. Otherwise Myth II still sets the standard for awesomeness.

Years ago I loved Warcraft II on a Mac. Also Starcraft, and CivII.

I never knew there was a UT2004 for Mac. I played it on a PC, my fav way to play it was with other humans over the internet, coop play against bots. It was a great game. UT3 I have on PS3, I don't like the 'story mode' or whatever you call that, it might be better online. (I hate the story/career mode in racing games too. Just let us race with all the cars from the get-go! Locked cars and tracks are a rip-off!)

I don't know if short is the right way to describe it. There's not a huge overarching narrative, I just like to play one campaign every so often. It takes about an hour, then I've had my zombie killing fun for the evening. The game has excellent replay value and I can definitely recommend it. Maybe wait for the inevitable steam sale over Christmas and get it cheaply then.

Yup, Halo was actually the first 3D game that I've ever played. I don't think I even beat the campaign... I just got anxious when the part with the Flood came out.

Marathon 2: Durandal and the Escape Velocity series were my best 2 experiences. Currently I am enjoying Starcraft 2 little by little, even if the story is forgettable.

Marathon 2: Durandal, ABSOLUTELY the best computer game in the history of mankind - when Bungie was a true Mac-loving company, of course.

As for more recent experiences, FlatOut2's performance on a Mac is flawless, and L4D2 is not that behind Windows either. NWN (the first) was also excellent, and Call of Duty 4 as well.

I played so much Marathon and Escape Velocity as a kid (and into college with Nova). Maybe it's just nostalgia but I found gaming more memorable in general back then. Now with the proliferation of consoles, the internet, and gaming in general there's just better access to a plethora of games, regardless of your preferred platform.

Don't get me wrong I love gaming more than ever but I just don't think any modern games I play are having the lifelong memories burned into my skull like huddling around the old 575 on a cold winters morning to play EV or Sim City or X-Wing. *sigh* now I'm nostalgic.

I still have my Mac copy of the Dig. Luckily I don't have to break out a Power Mac to play it since Lucas re-released it with an OS X update.

I don't think so, my favorite parts of UT2004 were the vehicle levels

I don't game much at all anymore, but when I switched to Mac I still played Battlefield 2142. That was a fun game especially on Camp Gibraltar with 64 players!
