I'm glad you figured it out. In plain mode, the wrist guard is indeed not visible - unlike in the zoom mode, where it's a grayed overlay area at the bottom of the screen.

You can drag the bottom center black handle of the zoombox to resize the wrist guard area. In fact, what you do is redivide the height of the Zoom Area / Wrist Guard.

I'm not sure I understand you here. Depending on what I'm working on, here's what I would typically do:
1) On my Mac: upload a pdf to my Dropbox Remarks folder. Wait a moment for synchronisation and the pdf will show up within Remarks at my iPad.
2) On my iPad: open a pdf file in Mail, Safari... and tap the Export button that will say Open in... where I would pick Remarks. Next I'll move the pdf to one of my Remarks folders.

So far, I haven't used the audio notes yet (new in Remarks since it's latest update). I've briefly tested the setup from your question with a Remarks file that syncs to Dropbox: after adding/removing 3 audio notes, the file size in the Dropbox location didn't change a bit - so I don't think the audio is becoming part of the pdf file. Also, there's no separate audio file anywhere. I may well ask the developer about this.

Great info, great reply, GREATLY appreciated! +1

When I'm in a note and press the curved arrow, my options are UPLOAD NOTE, EMAIL DOCUMENT, OPEN IN... and PRINT. When I choose UPLOAD NOTE, I am presented with a explorer like window so that I can browse to UPLOAD a file, (PDF?). Oh I see, it DOWNLOADS not UPLOADS the note that I'm working in BACK to the sync folder. Hmmm, that's odd. Why name it UPLOAD when it's actually a DOWNLOAD?

Does notability work with skydrive?

It doesn't sync directly to Skydrive, no.

You do have a point, although...

If it were DOWNLOAD, I would expect a file to land on my iPad right after the command. What happens is rather the opposite: I UPLOAD a file from my iPad towards an external location like p.e. Dropbox. Perhaps "Export" or "Save as" could be a better choice?

BTW, thanks for your appreciation - glad to be of help ;-)

My next college semester will start soon, and Im thinking in change my notebook and book to my new iPad. So I brought apple wireless keyboard and Bamboo Stylus to use both, but I dont have any app to really switch my notebooks to my iPad.

Anyone have some suggestions? Like the best app to stylus support... I really wanna feel like I was wrinting on a paper or something close that.
A app that I can keep each note on a subject. And separate them from each subject.

I don't know if you guys understood what I really want but anyway, I really appreciate the help! Thanks

IMHO you made an excellent choice with the Bamboo stylus. I recently got one myself and it instantly replaced my Arctic Architect. Much smoother on the glass, more accurate - all important if you start handwriting.
As for the choice of app, I searched this forum and saw a bunch of reviews over on YouTube. In the end I chose for Remarks for a number of reasons.
In the process, I had the opportunity to buy some others that were on sale at the time (Notes Plus, Noteshelf). Always nice to compare...

I feel like I've been downloading and trying new note taking apps nonstop since I first got my iPad.

I went slightly crazy and deleted all of them today except for one - Note Shelf.

Deleted:

Ipad: It has always been my favorite but I've lost data before and it's slightly feeling like Abandon Ware to be honest.

Bamboo: Fantastic writing engine - still not retina.

Notability: Never was a fan. I find it slow also.

Note Taker HD: Hate the UI. Feels like an old school database app.

Remarks: Was my current favorite but the amount of stray marks from my wrist was driving me nuts.

Why I kept NoteShelf: I love it's wrist protection, writing engine is fast enough (feels slightly slower with latest update but still faster than apps like Penultimate), customizable paper, and decent organization.

I concur on the bamboo stylus. However i have tried almost every notetaking app out there and Notability is the best in my opinion.

Does it have integrated audio recording?
Dropbox auto synch?

Notability got me through my last year of law school, allowed me to completely replace my laptop. It does everything and does it well. I was able to type notes, handwritten notes, import PDFs and annotate soo much easier than using other apps for that and was able to keep them right in with that subjects notebook. It'll record sound in sync with your notes. Backs up automatically to Dropbox In PDF or RTF form.
Zoom writing, wrist pad, great ink, insert web clips, different fonts, papers, etc.
I also LOVED the customizable bottom toolbox as it allows you to quickly change to B/I/U or add bullets and the like without moving your hands far from the keyboard. It felt as natural as pressing ctrl+B/I/U (which you can't do with an electronic keyboard). That is what kept me from ever liking Pages and some other word processors- the toolbox is on the top of the screen and adding bullets can take multiple taps difficult to implement into a work flow.
Seriously for .99 you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not try it or to buy anything else first.
The customer service is super quick and helpful and half of the things this app does it didn't do when I started using it. They update all the time with huge updates.

If you are asking about folders, Notability only gives you two levels: category and subjects; Remarks allows you to create apparently unlimited levels of nested folders.

This is the main reason I left Notability for Remarks.

I didn't find it to be a problem for school use - I had one category per semester and different subjects in each semester.

I recently switched to Notability, despite my strong preference for organizing files in unlimited folders, because the functionality and interface are so good. I find that I have to create more categories than I would like to because of the limit of only two levels. This would never work for organizing my PDF files (over 1500), but I think it is workable for notes. Still I wish Notability gave us unlimited folders or at least 3 or 4 levels.

I BEGGED their Dev's to add such functionality without success.

I have that amount (well, a bit more) of pdfs and I find that dropbox + iAnnotate works very well for me.

Remarks or Notability could have an integration with WolframAlpha to the handwriting function.
So it would be perfect for college.

I think i prefer notability over remarks for handwritten notes and remarks over notability for text and organization. Can someone tell me if there is a way to change the color of a folder in remarks? I think remarks is really slow at rendering pdf's and zooming.

While in a File icon view, click "Edit" at the top right of the screen.
The Folder icons now have a curl at their bottom right corner. Clicking it will open the color palette.

I agree about the low rendering speed, we could try closing some apps to see if that improves things.

Handwriting on the iPad just doesn't work for me. I prefer text editors like Byword, Write Up and Simplenote with Dropbox Sync. I also use Evernote for storing notes with images and archival stuff like receipts and tickets.

Has anyone here used remarks as their iPad's Pdf "file system"? Instead of readdledocs or goodreader iAnnotate etc

Notes Plus

For handwritten notes, Notes Plus seems to me to be by far the best (I have 10 other apps). It's the only one that converts handwriting to text -- and it does that extremely well. Also, it's amazingly versatile, allowing control over almost everything. The zoom feature works better than in any competitors, I think.
