yeah never been bot netted before and i've owned linsys for years but anyway moving along
I purchased 2 of their "badboy" routers. The WRT1900ac and they were no where near the performance of the Airport Extreme Base StationAC model.
I quickly picked them up because I remember how much I loved my old WRT54 routers back in the day...sadly this isn't the same Linksys anymore.

I did try the LinkSys's at my new office's 1st but they could not handle the workload of wired and wireless.
I was in a bind so I took my AC Airport from home to try and it truly has been rock stable since that day.
So I put an Airport in each of new clinics and returned the Linksys boxes to replace the AEBS I took from home.
I can say the only time any of those 4 AEBS routers ever get power cycled is when the power in my neighborhood went out and as of recently all of them are on battery backups with the modems.
If the electricity goes out, my laptops still have internet.
update got the apple router with the 2tb drive in it as i needed something to backup my data working great tested it wireless on my imac getting full speeds and great on my xbox one also just took a bit to setup
any info on this router i might need to know will glady help me
also do they sell anything to back mount this baby to the imac?
Just run through the setup in Airport utility to setup a WPA password and name your network SSID and you should be all set.
Twelve South sells this shelf that mounts to the back of the iMac that you could use for your router.
heard it won't fit the router.
Tall is no problem for this small shelf.
BackPack includes four vertical support pegs that hold vertical hard drives in place. The vertical support pegs can also be used to safely and securely prop up Time Capsule, Airport Extreme, MacBook Air or any other device that weighs up to 3.5 pounds. Coated with soft silicone, the support pegs won't leave any marks on your gear and can be arranged in different formations to accommodate a wide range of devices.
heard it won't fit the router.
According to Amazon, it states that it will work fine.
maybe the site was speaking of the older airport extreme
anyway i ordered it will be here monday
I directly quoted from the Amazon description and Weaselboy gave a direct first person account that it will work. You'll probably be more than satisfied with it.
got the mount for the back is it suppose to be a tight fit?cause mines is kinda loose but has no issue holding up the router
As I recall from installing my daughter's, it mostly hangs there kind of held by gravity. So are you happy with the way it looks?
I believe it sits low enough you would even see the router from the front.
well i returned this a month later,Thank god apple was nice enough to refund me after a month purchase date, the router had good performance but for some reason kept disconnecting me from xbox live,i tried everything except returning the router and getting a new one,i got fed up and returned it and went to best buy and got the linksys wrt1900ac
much better if you ask me and the range is crazy good.
That is quite unfortunate that it didn't work well for you as many here love their AirPorts and they work well. Glad you picked up a router that works well for your needs.
yea not sure what it was but it only seem to be a issue with XBOX LIVE,i tried to google and see if others had issues but yeah at the end no luck,so far this router is better in every way if you ask me other than the internal backup which i do miss
Was it by chance the strict NAT issue?
nope not at all i knew how to fix that which i did,it was just randomly kick me off during pvp i destiny saying check my network connection, then it kicks back on or id have to hard reset the xbox for it to work, i got upset and ended up testing a old linksys router i had and it worked fine no kicking off then i called apple and they decided to refund me
couldn't figure out why the router did this
Very strange! I never had that issue with my AirPort so it is possible that you got a lemon AirPort. Either way, it doesn't matter since you got a piece of equipment that is working well for your needs!
yeah maybe was a bad one i guess.ill never know now lol.but it only did it on xbox never notice anything else having issues
