I have an Eizo display which is cheap, power-efficient, is excellent for hours of staring (in my case, at code) on the display. It's the EV2336W. Very satisfied with it.

Actually wait, the mac mini can connect to DVI via display port to dvi connector. I thought that the Mac Mini had thunderbolt, but no, the monitor in that link should work.

So should any monitor from korea on ebay. I don't know why it says what it says, I had a q270 connected to my imac for a while. Although you may not want to make an attempt to see if it works, but the screen is basically the same as an ACD or ATD for $600+ off.

I have a Dell UltraSharp U2412M and thought it was a good choice because of the price (like a Mac mini!). It's an IPS monitor but I wouldn't call it in the upper tier, though. Whatever you get, I certainly recommend you get something other than a 1080P monitor. If you want to do any photo work, you'll find a 1080 pixel height to be less than ideal. Get at least 1200.

World of difference between that and the Dell U2713H (wide gamut) - had the U2412M and it went. The U2412M is good value for money, especially when they are on special but for photographic work I would stay away from anything that is not wide gamut. For real critical photographic work you are looking at even more expensive monitors than the U2713H which is OK for the prosumer photographic stuff.

The Nec PA301W. Biggest display it can drive, and one of the most awesome screens up to today (after the legendary T221 from IBM, a 4K ips screen from 2001). If you're on a budget, get the 271w, it is less than half price, and only a few pixels less.

I'm looking at getting a Mac Mini soon to replace my ageing iMac. I intend to get the BenQ BL2411PT monitor to go with it. 1920x1200 24" IPS screen with a flicker-free backlight to reduce eyestrain.

Lots of random comments but no tread I could find for just what is the best monitor for your Mini, at least not a current thread. So if you could be so kind to share your views on which monitor is best.
My concern is I have a HP2207 8 year old monitor. I would like a larger screen but I thing 27 may be too much. So I was thinking 24in would be the perfect match. Is my thinking correct, or will I want a bigger screen once I get it. So maybe I should just give in and get the Apple 27. Your thoughts?

I recently went from a 1920x1200 Dell U2412M (great monitor) to a 2560x1440 Dell U2713HM. The additional screen real-estate and clarity is awesome.

Get what you can afford. Keep in mind I was able to sell the U2412M I bought from Dell for $269 (sale) for $240 on ebay 18 months later.

Bunk... The U2412M as an example is more than adequate for a hobby photographer. You'd be much better served getting a Sypder4 or similar device if you are concerned about colour accuracy/consistency.

What makes you think I do not have that? Never assume, you know the expression....

Unless you're one of those who is affected by the PWM backlighting and want backlighting that is done by constant current control. Have written about that before.

These responses are for the thread originator, not MLJ who is apparently an expert of everything....

I hope Haswell update in Mac mini will incorporate graphics HD5000 series compatible with (2014?) the upcoming 4K monitor technology...if so, that makes a huge difference!

Mr. Phil Schiller already said @ WWDC '13 - Haswell based Macs will support 4K displays out of the box ...

NEC all the way.

Go to TFTCentral for lots of excellent display info and reviews.

Ew, Dell. You people need to learn about how thick their antiglare coating is. Put a dell up next to an apple monitor in a dark room and you will notice how unnatural the dell looks FAST.
facepalm.
Not everybody lives in a basement like you. And in a lit room, the dell smokes the ACD.

I had 2 dells (27inch), now i have 2 ATDs. I regret selling those dells, this ATDs are inferior to the Dells and they cost more.

Question for you. Did you find any Value in the Thunderbolt connection, easier, quicker the overall integration?

Many DELL customers have experienced IR problems with 27 in monitors...have you noticed any problem, too?

What is your opinion on ASUS IPS monitors?

I agree....I recommend a good "value for money" monitor with the following specs:

DP connection, 1920x1200 resolution, 23-24" IPS screen (nice to have: with a flicker-free backlight) such as DELL, ASUS, IIYAMA etc...

Also, find a manner to calibrate it...(for max performance).
