A mouse is really more of an ancillory tool for design work anyhow. Precision placement should always be done via keyboard and co-ordinates, and illustration should be done with graphics tablets or professionals with graphics tablets.

That's probably why you're getting so many "personal" answers -- there's really no feature that gives the mouse an edge when it comes to design or production.

I already read that thank you and it is clearly not the solution I'm looking for, see as he settles for the cordless option which is something I don't want.

I didn't "settle" for the cordless option. After test-driving the Logitech MX Revolution, I realized that there had been phenomenal leaps in wireless mice. I've been using it for a while now with absolutely no lag, no jumping, no delay, etc. The battery life is irrelevant as you simply drop it in the charger overnight once a week - no batteries to replace.

That being said, I completely understand having personal preferences, just want to be sure you realize that the new mice don't suffer from the same wireless issues they used to.

Cheers.

I recently got a Razer Pro v1.6 (it's a Razer Diamondback with different color scheme and slightly different side buttons), and I love it. It tracks precisely and accurately without a mousepad right on my rubberwood (very light grain) desk, where most of my other mice (Mighty Mouse, Kensington Pilotmouse, and Kensington Optical Elite) jump around quite a bit. Now, I do use the mouse mostly for gaming, but its tracking is smooth as silk when performing other tasks as well. It also is a very comfortable mouse in my hand, but of course mouse ergonomics are completely a matter of hand shape/size and personal taste. This is also very light mouse, so look elsewhere if you need any heft. The only main criticism I have is that the rocker-style side buttons take some getting used to before you can distinguish between them, but once you've been using it awhile, it comes very naturally.

I got the Logitech MX Revolution from NewEgg delivered today. All I have to say is WOW. It's truly an incredible mouse.

The laser is so accurate. The scrolling is smooth, the free-scroll wheel is awesome. Program flipping is definitely a nice feature and a huge time-saver along with the one-button searching. Highlight + click = Google Search. Awesome.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions, especially JasonElise1983 for his persistent recommendation of the MX.

:D

Congratulations on the new mouse!

I have a similar dilemma...

I own the Wireless Magic Mouse and am currently using it for design.
It is great for surfing and everyday internet use but when it comes to design it lacks the accuracy for fine detail.

I also have a Logitech MX15 gaming mouse but since I switched to Mac from Windows my Logitech mouse isn't happy (its works wonders if you want to move fast from one side of the screen to the other but when it comes to short distances it stutters).

I was looking at the Razor mice and was debating on getting the Imperator.

I also closely looked at the Logitech MX1000 that was highly suggested in this forum.

My question is this: Which to buy? Tablet or Mouse (and which first?)
(Ideally i'd love to have both, but my bank account has another idea)

Are the Wacom tablets worth it? Do they respond as nicely as they suggest. How accurate is it? What size pad is decent enough? I can't spend $300 but entry level $60 ones are too cheap. Has anyone bought one and thought it was too big or too small of a surface?

ie. http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product...spx?path=3d2da4d4dfeb00db9ea1515b92ac9206en02

Does anyone own a Razor mouse and use it for design (Photoshop etc.) and not only gaming. How does it respond to the close, intricate removal or pixels? Does it work seamlessly (and I mean no glitches) with the Mac OSX?
Not just compatible but designed with Mac in mind.

And the Logitech mouse (MXPro) what makes this mouse stand above them all? And I don't mean just specs, I would like to hear about personal use.

If anyone can help me narrow this decision I would appreciate it.
I'm trying to decide if I can get away with purchasing the mouse first and still be able to design with it or purchase the tablet and have that a replacement altogether.

Thank you in advance!

I hope you realize that you are posting in response to a thread that is 4 years old. 4 years might as well be an eternity when it comes to computer hardware. .

For what it's worth, I have a Logitech Wireless Performance Mouse and it's pretty decent. I works pretty well on glass and you don't need a mousepad.

The link to the razer mouse looks good, but it looks like it was primarily designed for gaming. Good luck on your search.

vx & mx revolution

I've had both mice from Logitech and both work flawlessly with no issues with the wireless at all. The only problem withthe original MX revolution was with the battery as the rechargeable battery can die out on you after so many recharges. At my work place we had 2 MX Revolutions and the first one died when it couldn't recharge anymore. The second became inoperable when some idiot in the office accidentally damaged the wireless antenna that plugsinto the usb slot. My VX revolution is nice and handy becase of its smaller profile and takes up less space in my bag.
What makes the newer version of this line superior is its ability to work on glass or glossy surfaces without a hitch. If you do a lot of on site presentations with a laptop, that's a useful feature as you don't have to carry a mousepad.

I just bought and returned the Razor mouse, I didn't like it. It was still glitchy even after much adjustment with the response settings.

i'm gonna try the logitech mouse next and see how it measures up.

Very Old School

I'm on a new iMac, but I still love my ADB Desktop Bus Mouse II from 1993. I use an iMate dongle to covert the ADB to USB. It it has just the right weight and balance for me and the pads underneath are the smoothest of any mouse out there today. I also use a Wacom Bamboo tablet.

To have a best graphic design the mouse to perform this activity should also be the bets one to have so that its resemblance makes a great difference and you will have the best graphic designing.

Personally use a Razer Imperator, it's nice and precise and quite easy to use for long period, I don't get any cramp etc.
