Take a look at Logitech and Microsoft mouses. I prefer microsoft, I have 2 wonderful mouses from them, its the only thing that company is able to get working correctly

If you want wireless, get the Razer Orochi, the only good bluetooth mouse on the market right now. I have a strong and strange hatred towards wireless receivers so I can't really recommend anything in that regard.
Or you can always get a wired mouse since you have a desktop. Check out Razer Deathadder, Microsoft IE 3.0 and Steelseries Sensei/Kinzu

My Razers break every 2 years. But I figured hey, I spend more on shoes and they get used less. Plus there isn't much better out there. All my Logitech mice die after a couple of years too.

My Microsoft mice seem to be near indestructible and they're comfy. And they have some good tech in them. But they're pricey.

I had a Logitech mouse that got heavy use for a good 5 years and it was still going fine when I sold it. I've never had a problem with anything from Logitech (nor has a friend of mine), but maybe then we've just been lucky. I can't remember what the mouse was called but if I ever saw it again I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Same here. I've used various Logitech products over the years including mice, keyboards and head sets. I've never had any problems with any of them.

I use a cyborg rat 7... Really great mouse, my only complaint is it has a hard time tracking on glossy black surfaces for some reason. The "sniper" button is useful for locking down your sensitivity really low temporarily in fps's.

I love using the horizontal scroll wheel to control the volume :)

If you don't mind eating up a USB port for the sake of having a good mouse, get the Logitech Performance MX. If you want a dongleless mouse, Razer Orochi is the best and only choice since all other bluetooth mice suck.

I have the Logitech Anywhere MX mouse and it's by far the best I've used for gaming. It's very responsive and accurate, but most of all it has the perfect feel and weight. I'd highly recommend that.

Yeah I'm a logitech fan as well

VX Nano - old but still my favorite of all Logitech mouses. Great portability and feel
Anywhere MX is nice as well, although it just does not feel the same as the VX Nano
MX Desktop - a bit big for my taste but very nice as well

Do not buy wireless. Buying/charging batteries is a pain in the ass when you just want/need to work/play.

I and a lot of other people will disagree with this. I've used wireless mice for a long time and have never had a problem. I currently use the Apple Magic Mouse and Magic Track Pad with rechargeable batteries and they last a long time. I've also just picked up a wireless Logitech MX Anywhere mouse For gaming.

As I mentioned above I just bought the Logitech MX Anywhere mouse brand new for half the retail price. I'm looking forward to using it for gaming as the Magic Mouse doesn't really cut it for that purpose.

Good rechargeable mouse = problem solved

Get some high-capacity NiMH batteries. Mine last about 6 months of decent use every day, and take about 24 hrs to recharge. They hold 80% of their charge for a year, so if you get a few extra you never have to worry about running out of juice. :)

I love my Death Adder Black, but I only use it on my PC. Ive heard good things about the Orochi, but there has been some criticism about its sleep function. IDK if this is fixed or not, if so it would be a top contender in my book.

anyhoo, as others have said...Razer is awesome.

I've just bought a R.A.T.9 and it's incredible, like an extension of my hand. I'm extremely picky about mice (due to my disability which causes problems with my hands) and I ADORE this one. I'm also a big fan of SteelSeries (although Mac drivers are coming next year) and cheapo Microsoft ones too!

I am also looking for a new wireless mouse. I have been looking at the:

Mad Catz Rat 9 - (a little pricy but would be willing to pay the price if it is really a good mouse and if it would be comfortable)

Logitech G700 - (a little more in my price point)

Razer Orochi

I also want this mouse to be portable because I will be using it with my laptop. Which I think the Rat 9 will kind of fold up, but will it be a hassle to get my setting back every time?

Man9z0r, after doing a quick bit of research, it appears that the only option in your list that supports Bluetooth is the Razer; the rest require stupid USB dongles designed for PCs who still haven't caught on with the whole Bluetooth thing yet. Maybe you don't care, but I haven't had a lot of fun with dongled wireless mice on laptops in the past, particularly on Apple notebooks where USB ports are already a bit scarce (I had to either unplug my keyboard or my mouse whenever I wanted to print anything… until I broke down and bought an external hub, anyway.) Bluetooth is definitely the way to go.

It looks like you're specifically looking for a gaming mouse, but if you'll allow for simpler options, I'll suggest the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000. I mentioned it earlier in this thread. It's very solid, and small enough that portability isn't an issue - in fact, perhaps too small for people who prefer gaming-style megamice. But I personally prefer smaller mice (I'm apparently one of the few people on the planet who rather liked the original iMac's old hockey puck).

I really hate wireless mice in their current form. Battery makes them too heavy and uncomfortable.

Razer Deathadder is the best mouse I've ever had, perfect for people prefer palm grip over the "claw".

Drivers for mac are really good too, they override the annoying mouse acceleration in mac os x
