Best News App for iPad?

I'd like to ask you all what news app's do you use for iPad? I've just come to the end of a print subscription and am determined now to get all my news on my iPad (I have a mini to take to work and a Pro at home).

I'm currently trying Flipboard, Apple News and the BBC website. Any other recommendations, tips etc etc?....

Anyone else gone from reading their news in print to digital?

I like the included Apple News app. It's easy to use and customize. I didn't feel the need to go look for a different one.

I like Apple News and Flipboard. Also, I use Twitter like a news app. Of course, some people prefer Nuzzle.

In the UK i find BBC and SKy very good. Anything else is too 'american' in my opinion.

Newsify is my fav. lots of choices for feeds and "channels" and a solid interface.

Apple News is the best as far as I'm concerned. I don't use any other news apps. I do navigate through a list of bookmarks each day of the sites I enjoy most - Daring Fireball, Loop Insight, Six Colors, etc. just to make sure I haven't skipped over anything important inside Apple News.

I really enjoy the NY Times iPad app. It isn't free, but in my opinion worth the cost. Amazing amount of original content, well written, excellent coverage of the arts, finance, business, sports, science, etc. I probably average 1.5 hours a day on this app.

The two that I now use regularly other than the NY Times are Apple News and Google News. Both are worth having. I use Google News as my home page for Safari.

I like reading the NYT article on the Drudge site but refuse to pay for it. Their ads should pay for their news and if it does not, they are doing it wrong. I really wish Drudge would put a star or some identifier on NYT articles so I no longer click on them.

I keep an eye on Al Jazeera.. Unfortunately, they're closing their US operations in April. So, back on the drawing board now!

I use the BBC news app and out of all of the news apps that I have tried the BBC news app is definitely the best news app for the iPad hands down, very easy to use and very informative in the news articles!

I use Apple News for mainstream news, and I read a bunch of more techie sites using Reeder. Both recommended!

Check out RT News and put it in your stable. The app is great and the news stories for the most part seem to not lean too far right or left.

Obviously for those above wanting a more world view this would provide it (the RT stands for Russia Today, but the stories are from their NA office I assume since it is in English).

Since I am not sure an unbiassed news source exists I suggest using a few apps to avoid getting too liberal or too conservative of a viewpoint to your news. It is often interesting to see the same topic covered from a more liberal news source and compare it to a conservative source and then a world source.

That seems unduly dismissive and maybe more anti-Russian than you are accusing RT as being pro, but maybe you are referring to what RT is inside of Russia. Or just saying it is Russia's version of the BBC. I don't read Russian and have never looked at what the Russian version of RT covers with a translator, so it could be an entirely different tone than what the American outlet of RT is reporting on.

Would even the American RT office not run a piece criticizing Putin? Don't know but it doesn't matter since I don't look to RT news to form my opinion about Russia. But even if RT wouldn't report negatively on Russia, that doesn't mean their coverage of non-Russian news is flawed.

Easy for anyone to gauge for themselves, look at the 20 or so most recent articles in the iPad app and pass their own judgement. Articles to me have seemed well worth the read and offer more of a world view, with many not having an editorial bent to them.

Flipboard and Feedly are my two favorites, the Apple News app is just okay.

The Apple News app could use some polishing, but I like it. Also, NYT app is worth it for the Sunday Times.

Nice reply, and you are right, I was overly dismissive. Most of what I know of RT is secondhand via articles from other news sources. I read the NYT (subscriber), and The Guardian (subscriber) daily; weekly, I read the Economist (subscriber), some of The Atlantic, occasional Washington Post, L.A. Times, Columbia Journalism Review, and some BBC. I like to see reportage from both sides of the Atlantic (US/Europe), as none can be truly objective -- we are all products of our social/economic/political environment. This is from whence hails my great distrust of RT -- they are owned and run by the Russian state, and the organization was launched with the stated objective of 'representing the Russian viewpoint' at large in the West. This has been analyzed by numerous journalistic organizations to mean in reality 'whitewashing actions of the Russian state'.
