Commenting on this much later to say I have an m1pro with 16gb of ram. I was on Sequia and did a fresh install to take it back to monteray...there no difference in terms of performance. While I do like to always have a legacy OS around (I have an imac running mavericks) I will say on this m1pro I miss the updated setting menu and it lacks a few features I prefer.
