To me the Oneplus X was the only interesting phone released this year. Affordable, compact with enough horsepower to run smooth, nice design. I really don't know why that physically small 5" phone has been so hard to come by after Galaxy S4.

The Oneplus Two failed by not offering much over Oneplus One and having a poorly placed fingerprint sensor.

Most of the bigger brands went with "same old", the Note 5 is probably the only notable phone and it's not even sold here in Europe. Hideously expensive too. Apple went with absurd European pricing for hardware that really isn't better than the competition.

The Snapdragon 810 ruined many a phone. I kinda liked the Z5 Compact if it wasn't for that overheating POS chip and crappy camera software.

I have the feeling the Note 5 is not sold in Europe because of the lack of removable battery and SD slot. I did not see it as a real loss.

I think alot of it was the fact the iphone 6 plus took alot away from their sales as the sales for the note 4 was alot lower than expected

It was actually because the Edge variant of the S6 sold very well in Europe and according to reports Samsung followed the results of a focus group which said the majority of the focus group did not use the s-pen of the Note devices. With that in mind they axed the launch of the Note 5 pretty late in the party and decided to simply release the Edge Plus variant and put greater emphasis on marketing that instead, and boy have they been pushing it.

Whether it was a Good choice or Bad choice, it was a at the end of the day just a choice they made. Had nothing to do with removable battery or SD Slot.

If rumours of an S7 Plus launched alongside the S7 / S7 edge / S7 edge + are true, it may spell the end of the Note series in USA & Asia too.

Maybe in the same way I finally got a Passport this year, I will get an Edge next time. Or a BB10 Priv. Let's see how it goes with the integrated battery first.
It seems it would not be enough to just put BB10 on the Priv, but that it should also be landscape, and with a Passport-level build with magnesium alloy like the Z10.

There have been some great phones in 2015 when considering design, performance, and camera.

But in general battery life seems to have gone backwards in 2015 (I guess for reasons including excessive thinness, excessively high resolution screens, and snapdragon 810). For this reason I haven't bought a phone in 2015. It irritates me that battery life if so low down in the list of prioties of phone manufacturers and I'm not keen on rewarding them with my cash.

Just saw Jon Morrison's tech of the year video, and he gave the top 3 to the Nexus 6P, iPhone 6S Plus and the Moto X Pure. Very well chosen in my opinion.

Experia z5 premium s6 edge and I already have an iPhone 6+ so I don't feel the need for the 6s....

I cannot give a best, it would be just what I conceded if I named some over the others.

For example, the Note 5/S6 Edge Plus display versus battery life of 6s Plus and perhaps overall performance. Tough to discount some of the latter's benchmarks.

The HTC One M9 manages memory like no other's business (hardly goes below 2 gig) but there is the camera and battery life concession. Gotta love its external audio playback though.

The examples would just go on and on, maybe because there is no best and is why we own or jump to others. :)
