No official Mac GPU supports DisplayPort 1.2 boot screens (which is necessary for 4K@60Hz). Only MVC's Maxwell GPUs do.

With only a DP 1.2 screen connected, most Mac GPUs will either show nothing or get stuck on boot, freezing your Mac with a black screen.
