I've tried many, many task management apps. For some reason or another I don't stick with them because they're either too complicated, too simple or too ugly.

I recently found Orchestra and so far I think it's the best I've used. It just seems to work how my brain works when I think about tasks.

For one thing, it looks quite beautiful. That's important to me.

You can create lists and order tasks by priority or due date. Sounds pretty standard but the method of switching sorting options is the most innovative and intuitive I've used.

There is a bar at the top of the app and you can toggle between starred (important) items, all items and all completed items. There is also a toggle next to it for lists - all lists or a selected lists.

This simple but powerful method of sorting is exactly what I didn't know I was looking for.

It even has robust task sharing functionality which I don't even use.

My biggest gripe with the app is that there's no iPad version (yet). I'm a completionist and it's annoying me that I don't have an iPad equivalent. Though there is a good web app it syncs with, which is very important to me.

I suggest you check it out if you're looking for something more sophisticated than Clear but not as involved as Omnifocus or Things.

I was using the Lite version for a week or so, so I decided to buy the real version today. So far, it's pretty nice. I'll spring the iPad version later but the iPhone app Any To Do is really nice. Not overly complicated, not too bare, not too hard to see or look at, and syncs with Evernote.

So far, I'm happy with it.

Stick with Appigo Todo. It is a great app and they provide good support.

I'm not sure what you mean by not being updated? They just released Todo for Mac and a brand new Todo for MS Exchange/Outlook users.

These guys have had cloud bases syncing options for years and yet Things gets better reviews because it is pretty. I never understood that.

Appigo Todo is a very solid task manager. Get to work getting things done, and quit looking for the next cool tool.

Old thread, I know, but I was just searching for a to-do list app and came across SwiftList: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/swiftlist/id555105735?mt=8

It might not be quite as fully featured as some of the older apps, but what it does have is speed... it's just really quick and easy to create lists, which is what I've always found a turn-off in other apps. Don't know if they have a free version (don't think so), but for $1 it was worth giving it a try and I'm glad I did.

Long time todo/task user going back to the Palm Pilot days. On the iPhone and iPad I've tried many, with 2do and Appigo's ToDo being my favorites these last couple years with sync to toodledo and now icloud.

However I have fully switched to Priorities: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/priorities/id417600877?mt=8

The smoothness of the app is nice, the pages (projects in my case) with tasks/lists that can have sublists are awesome. And the synch between their web app, iphone, and ipad works very well.

It allows you to star tasks to bring to a next action / my priorities type list, but I do wish it had high, medium, and low priority per list item.

Simple to use, straightforward, subitems to lists/tasks is a killer feature over 2do and Todo (I know, they have them too, but cumbersome in comparison).

Try Things or OmniFocus. They're kind of expensive, but worth the price.

If you want something cool, try Clear. I love the fancy UI and interactions.

If you're looking for a task management app/ to-do list where you can also add and categorise your notes, create voice recordings, attach PDF documents, sketches and photos, then Daily Notes is the best out there. You can actually compartmentalize your life, eg. work, home, personal there then add the tasks in each category. Pretty neat.
