amazon offers till nov 8th $200 on all dual core macs (M9591LL/A dual core 2.3 ghz is what i am intersted in).

aside of having to install extra ram myself is there any drawback or catch with this offer?

as already mentioned i can delay the sales tax till april 15th 2089;)
i can order the ram from crucial
i can buy apple care later

can i install airport/bluetooth myself later (?)

shipping is not free, thats another ~$35

is that a good deal? (i need the airport card)

Can you use a student discount at a brick and mortar store? I've got a friend how I'm trying to get switched over. If I take him to a store, he'll be able to play with all the coolness.

you can use the student discount at any apple store. i have purchased several goods with my student discount. works everytime. however, you cannot go to an authorized apple store such as compusa or fry's and use the student discount. they will not honor it.

andi, i am wondering the same thing about the bluetooth/airport for my dual core. i bought the stock model at the apple store last week and i'd love to install the bluetooth/airport module but from what i have read, it's not going to be a user installable part. =(

Remember also, the student discount CAN NOT be used on SOFTWARE purchases in a b&m store.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the powerbook I just looked up on amazon was priced at ~$500 more than the apple store price (for a 15")

they say on the website that airport?BT cards are installed by an authorized apple dealer. but the sales rep at the apple store says they install it right away when i buy a dual core there.

so how hard can it be?
