Exactly. It looks like I did it myself with a piece of contact and some scissors. I understand the arguments for and against using a screen protector on a watch. But if you are going to do it (I may) you would surely pick a product that precisely covers the glass only so that it's not highly obvious and highly ugly as the BSE is. Other brands are doing near-invisible protectors. The overlap is not even consistent around the screen to give the appearance that it was done intentionally. Way more of the aluminium is covered at the bottom verses the corner and the slight cutouts around the button and crown could be avoided completely by shortening the coverage by half a millimetre. It completely ruins the aesthetic of the watch. As I said, I've used BSE before (on many devices), and I went straight to their website looking for this when I got my watch. But this is god awful.
We certainly appreciate honest feedback as it helps us shape a better product. We know plenty of people will want a glass only Skin and we'll probably be adding that option in the near future. It might be helpful if I give some background on the initial design we came up with though. We figured the glass only protectors were going to be pretty common so we were looking to offer an alternative option that's possibly better in some ways.
The extended coverage obviously offers protection to a greater area of the watch but should also have the added benefit of extended life. The oleophobic coating on modern screens prevent oil and smudges from sticking to the glass but it also prevents adhesive screen protectors from strongly bonding to the glass. On flat screens it doesn't matter much but on screens with curved edges it's the most common point of failure in our experience.
Since the Skin extends to the metal body of the watch and adheres to a surface that provides a more positive bond it should outlast the equivalent Skin that covers just the glass.
You're also less likely to feel the edge of the Skin with your finger when you swipe on the screen. It's minor but not feeling the edge of the screen protector when you swipe maintains the original experience and doesn't remind you there's a screen protector on the device every time you touch it. Not rubbing your fingers on the edge of the film frequently will also extend the life too.
Finally, the current design is a little different than what's in the photo posted here. It more closely matches the shape of the screen. We often make running design changes to improve products so we'll try to get another photo up soon.
Thanks for the feedback and support. Hopefully that shines some light on the subject.

FWIW, I too have bought skins from BSE and have never been disappointed. A good company that makes excellent products.
Thanks for the continued support!
Fair enough. Seems reasonable. No harm done.
