You have it on your iPad. Can't you make your own decision based off how it runs on your own iPad if it's good enough for your phone? You're using the beta, you should know if it's stable enough....

Does every single build need to have its own "is it a daily driver?" Thread.
Its the new "this beta is laggy".

running beta 4 on my SE, and it is the fastest I have ever seen any iPhone ever run. I mean it screams and is actually shocking how fast it is.

You know it is good when my biggest complaint is the new keyboard sounds. I feel like a am making a techno track when I text.

Why is my iPhone 6 fast now? This phone launched with iOS 8. iOS 10 is the third OS this phone has seen.

Since according to a handful of MR users, Apple purposely slows down devices to force upgrades with planned obsolescence. How is this possible my phone is fast 3 OS's later??!!!

I think the new different key sounds for different functions is hilarious. It's sounds funny, but in a good way. Especially if you can type fast. It's just more upbeat and less "robotic" in a way.

But is it actually faster or is it just the shorter animations making it feel faster??

Looks like 9.3.3 still takes the cake for fastest initial load time but I'm thinking switching between apps that are already loaded into memory may be faster on iOS 10.

Come on, your device is clearly slower and doesn't do half the things it used to do, you are just not noticing it and/or don't care about it. ;)

Wouldn't say its quite GM level yet, but it's more than adequate. Besides, so long as you archive an iTunes backup and keep the 9.3.3 Ipsw to hand, you can downgrade in half an hour if it all goes to pot.

I'm looking forward to the final release though, it's gonna be rapid.

As long as you're willing to accept the possibility of a random bug showing up, yes, it's fine as a daily driver. Especially if you report whatever issue you come across.

It's been my daily since the first beta. I accepted some issues because, overall, the phone still functioned as it should.

Installed PB 3 this morning. Very fast & seems smooth. Certainly seems more than adequate to be used as a daily driver imo. The only thing I would say is they still have work to do with regards to messages. It works sometimes & more than often it doesn't work. When I say doesn't work I mean by force touching the message via lock screen or NC , there's just a white space. No texts , no keyboard & no way of replying. Only way to reply for me is to actually go into messages app , & then it's a bit laggy. If you can deal with this & rebooting every so often to cure till it comes back , then is say it's ok. I can't speak for other messaging apps , but whatsapp works fine it seems in all departments, so if you can use another app if this iMessage bug plays with your head , then even better.

Honestly, this beta feels like a bit of a step back from DP3/PB2. While animations overall do feel much more fluid and faster, there are a number of bugs that are just flat out annoying in day to day use:
  • Quick reply for messages is flat out broken for 6S/6S+ users in this build. Seems to be working ok on my iPad though so I'm guessing it's fine on other non-force touch devices.
  • If you have the sound on, keyboard clicks will play for return, space, delete, etc. (anything with the new sounds). This happens even if you've turned off keyboard clicks in settings. Everyone seems to love the keyboard clicks, but I find them annoying and always turn them off.
  • Pressing the home button while music is playing causes playback to fade out for 1-2 seconds. Not a show stopper, but definitely annoying.
None of these bugs were present in the last build. While things do feel faster overall, these are quite annoying and make me wish I hadn't jumped from public beta 2 quite so fast! Oh well, it's only for two weeks. At the end of the day, it really comes down how much you're willing to put up with day to day.

I'm unable to reproduce any of these bugs.

Hahah. :)

Though, I haven't had keyboard sounds on since we were allowed to turn them off (I don't recall if that was an option with the first iOS or not, but whenever it was).

If my daughter had her keyboard sounds on, I think my house would sound like it was home to a family of woodpeckers.

The new sound is worse than the woodpecker noise. It sounds like music. I type with my thumbs, really fast, and it is actually distracting. I guess I just need to turn it off haha.

Maybe that's the point behind the changes--to get more people to actually turn those sounds off. ;)

My iPhone 6s+ is burning through battery at such an alarming rate, as in percentage points per minute while using it, that I have to downgrade. And it's running blazing hot too. Something is clearly happening in the background. I've also had far too many of the dropped signal issues the past two days to live with it at this point. I'll look to jump back on once things are a bit more stabilized.

Same version as mine.
Thank you so much. For a moment I thought I had a different version because I saw on my son's photo settings there was an option to reduce picture quality size, but then I figured that only applies if uploading images to iCloud. Thanks again.
