I love seeing people post and talk saying "I wouldn't get this MacBook y'all are just beta testers" yeah and so is everyone else that buys a new version of a Mac or other brand. Welcome to the life that we have become the product.

PS- The M1 MacBook smokes all the others before it ?

Apple hit this out of the park in terms of the quality of the hardware, drivers and Big Sur. It’s the highest quality release of hardware and software ever. Some people will find bugs but highest quality doesn’t mean perfect.

Right! There will be bugs with all of them at least there isn’t a keyboard issue... ?

Yours is the very first post I've seen someone say that.

Perhaps you might want to hang out with a better crowd? :p

Keyboard on point.
Performance on point.
Snappiness on point.
Audio on point (I wish they had the iPad Pro quad speakers).
Screen on point.

Agree! I’d have to say if I had to complain about anything it would be about the speakers they aren’t terrible but maybe could be a tad bit better? And sure a 14 inch edge to edge would be nice but come on...

performance and snappiness are kind of the same thing..You should remove the snappiness with the battery life on point
:)

Unless your keyboard is Bluetooth, and then there is a problem. And we are beta testers. There’s no way to ignore that.

I beta tested Windows 95 - you don't know what real beta testing is....

I purchased a MBP with 16GB of RAM. Just my observations, but it is almost as powerful as a top end 16" MBP. If the M1 processor is "shades of things to come", Apple is of to a great start

What made me purchase my M1 was the fact I use the iPad Pro 90% plus of the time. It's that good already so on a larger scale, the M1 in these new devices just means it's an iPad on steroids. Best part with a Mac mini is the fact I can hook up any high refresh monitor and just enjoy the experience.

What about the bluetooth and display compatibility issues people are posting about? Fake news?

I think the designs of the M1 machines are pretty much standardized from the last Intel generation. A new iteration of the design is probably more concerning that the new generation of ARM machines. That being said, you do have chunky bezels, 1970s webcams, 1990s memory sizes, etc, to contend with. For every gift Apple gives, they equalize it with an upper cut to the chin.

The people who purchase the machines will know this. One thing humans are good at is 'thinking out the box'. There will be things that customers will try with the M1 that Apple would never have thought of. Apple's PR & Marketing team will have thousands upon thousands of interns scouring the internet's social media platforms, review sites and review forums and tech forums, looking for both everything positive and negative said about the M1. Anything that looks legitimate will be passed onto the head of Marketing who will then get the team to break down every positive and negative thing about the M1 into separate categories and in turn give them to the department heads involved in the M1 from both hardware and software. Each department head will go through the comments and see which ones are the most talked about and then see if what is being commented on can be improved upon in the next version of the machine.

The question will be, how much will Apple listen to it's M1 customers because with Apple designing it's own CPU, they can no longer use Intel as an excuse for not doing things that customers wanted 'we cannot do that because of limitations with the Intel CPU'. The gloves are off, Apple can now design their machines how they want. If customers want 10GB ethernet, will they get it, if customers want more thunderbolt ports, will they get it, if customers want touch screens because of having to use ios apps that are optimized for touch screens, will they get it. Who knows. Guess we will have to wait and see.

And it’s not even optimized yet. Imagine after a few updates

I would use the term "Early-Adopter" instead of Beta-tester. The M1 is the first in a new series of Mac processors. It is a big leap in raw performance and even more performance/energy for Macs.

1. The bezel argument drives me up the wall, are people really having to grasp at straws that much to make these machines look bad? "Bezels are big" wow, how will Apple ever recover?
2. Of the webcam arguments I've read I've only seen one other ultrabook that has a 1080p webcam (which escapes me right now, it might've been an HP?) the rest use a 720p webcam. Even premium ultrabooks do this, which is where Apple competes.
3. The memory sizes are the same as the machines they replaced. If you want more memory, then you'll have to wait until they make a suitable SoC, they didn't take a damn thing away.

One really, really has to grasp at straws to make these machines seem like a negative release.

who knows. Those types of issues could be expected on any new device (not anything specific to M1) but since its on the M1 Macs I suppose people will start saying it is a sign of bad things to come to the m series

I hope these issues can be resolved via a software update.

1. I’m not sure why you would get upset over other’s views about chunky bezels as that’s irrational. Some of us don’t like the 1970s Buck Rogers look.

2. When you spend a mint you expect gold standard. If I wanted a cheap PC resolution webcam I can buy a PC laptop. I don’t expect sucky resolution webcams in premium priced products. I’m also not paying for excuses for the junk.

3. I can buy a 64GB Intel Mini today which is 4x the constrained size of the ARM Mini. Seems like they did take quite a lot away.

I love my $999 Air. It's super fast and has been issue free for me so far. M1 has been a home run and things will only get better.

I just sold my 10th gen intel MBP. I won't miss it or the heat it generates after minimal use.

Three of the tiredest points in this forum, all discussed to death, beaten like a dead horse, redundant to the max, thoroughly explained many times so anyone who cares can figure them out, stated as though no one had ever said anything in response to them before, including the person replied to. Quite a feat!
