Better dictation - voice to text?

I use voice-to-text dictation a lot. Not asking Siri questions, or generating speech, but just a literal transcription of what I'm saying into a text message.
It's not always that great.

Is the improvement in os27 for iPhone 17 onward? The only Apple official note is

" as a major boost in accuracy with systemwide dictation"

I guess we'll have to see so if anyone finds out, come back here to post 🙂 I'd like to see a comparsion video of two phones and how they handle dictation.

iPhone 17 won't get the improved dictation because it only has 8GB of RAM.

Currently on iOS 27 Beta and just read in the release notes you can enable this feature which should enhance dictation accuracy, prior to this feature, dictation on iOS has never been as good as ChatGPT/Google for example, I was curious how is this working for everyone?

I have enabled the feature like 30 minutes ago, and I haven’t been completely wow effect impressed. I would say it’s a bit of a step up, but it’s not mind-blowing like some specializing third-party tools, and it’s English only so far I have figured that it still has a long way to go to catch up with other specializing tools. Apple is really giving crumbs with this one

Still just as bad as before, i have 17 pro max. I cant believe how they still suck in such a basic function. Every other AI gets it perfectly

Has anyone noticed that there has been minimal improvement in the new Siri speech-to-text transcription for text messages?

While OpenAI, Grok, and all others can transcribe perfectly SIRI still lacks this basic function. I don't understand it .

Is there any way to reset your previous dictations and start fresh?

I asked Siri, and it hallucinated an answer. So much for understanding what the phone is actually capable of.

I'll log a feedback and try not to swear too much in it.

"Siri invents settings which do not exist" logged. Apart from my passive-aggressive title, I was polite 😁

My feedback on Siri AI has got progressively less polite the more I’ve used it.
