When bluetooth devices are so common, particularly Logitech keyboards and mice, you would think that people in Cupertino would have sorted this through the beta stages. They have to have known there were issues. I'm sitting here with a Mac Mini M1 'paperweight' as I now need to go and buy a wired keyboard to even start the blessed thing.

Try logging out (AppleID) of all your Apple devices and logging back in. Also, disconnect wi-fi, connect to Bluetooth device and turn wi-if on. It works a little better. I would leave the MacBook running for a day. Something to do with optimization. Try it.

This fixed my Bluetooth connection problems. Got this tip from another forum:

Open Terminal app
Type in: sudo rm -rf /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL/
Restart your iMac

Worked perfectly.

I can confirm that this solution worked for me:

Run this on Terminal:
```
ll /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL
```
will output:
```
InstantOn..driver
Zoom....driver
```
in my case.

Apple product is going worse day by day:
I have a Mac 2014 and it still works smoothly (perfect keyboard, good battery time, no software issue)
But I got the opposite situation for my Mac Pro 2017: keys on the keyboard were dropped out, the battery cap is significantly reduced to 40%, laggy.

I'm a software engineer so I think I know my devices well.

What nonsense is this? Never seen a command like II /Library

I had a problem too but was sorted by going to settings. Then sounds and make sure output is set to the speaker. It seems the default is internal speakers

[RESOLVED]
I've tried all the time consuming "hacks" to resolve the bluetooth streaming problem, all to no avail on the latest release (upgrade) of Big Sur and left very frustrated with choppy music playing through the Mac bluetooth to a bluetooth receiver on my Hi-Fi (or bluetooth headphones).

[Solution]
My solution was relatively simple and bypasses all Mac Sur bluetooth.
Put simply, I connected a bluetooth transmitter to the 3/5mm MacBook Audio output and paired that to the Hi-Fi bluetooth receiver. Perfect music at long last.

The cost is just that of a budget "TROND 2-in-1 Bluetooth V5.0 Transmitter Receiver/Wireless 3.5mm Audio Adapter (AptX Low Latency for Both TX & RX, 2 Devices Simultaneously, for TV, Home Stereo or MP3 Player)" from Amazon UK.

As and when Apple finally and properly fix BT then this device will find a new home for sure.

I used my Sennheiser BT 350 for a long time with no problems with my iMac (macOS 11.2.1). I have no idea what happened but now it drops the connection after a couple of seconds.

Tried to disconnect all other devices
Reconnect the headphones
Pairing the headphones again
Tried to "Reset the bluetooth module" " Factory reset all apple devices..." and "Remove all devices" from mac bluetooth menu.
And finally there is no such file ore directory like "/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL/" on my mac

And again. This happened during the last few days. Besides normal usage I did three things that might have caused the issue. (1.) Installed the macOS update. And before that (2.) disconnected the headphones normally (3.) allowed handoff from System preferences.

Any ideas?

I checked logs and those looks suspicious:

Code:
13:19:55.694614+0100 bluetoothaudiod sendingATCommand: OK with length 6 and mtu 255
13:19:55.695841+0100 bluetoothaudiod [AVDTP Response] -> Set Configuration
13:19:55.695966+0100    bluetoothaudiod    [ApplyConfigRes] error: 0xCE
13:19:55.696037+0100 bluetoothaudiod Device may advertise services incorrectly. Failed category:(null) (inititator:1)
13:19:55.696336+0100 bluetoothaudiod Starting shutdown for JBL TUNE700BT. Current command:(null)

After those there are only disconnection logs (my issue that headphones disconnect right after connecting).

Hi,
i was updating my macbook pro late 13 to big sur yesterday and cant hold the bluetooth connection to any device anymore. I tested with three different headphones (2x bose, 1x sony) and one bluetooth speaker (bose).

If the device is in pairing mode, it shows up in my bluetooth preferences. I can connect to the device but the connection will be lost after 4-5 seconds. During the time, where the speaker/headphone is connected, i can not select the device in audio output settings. It doesnt shows up there.

I already removed every device from bluetooth properties and deleted com.apple.Bluetooth.plist from /Library/Preferences. Without success. Any other ideas?
After months of frustration, I've just found such a simple solution that hopefully it will help lots of other people.

If your iPhone is already Bluetooth connected to your headphones or speakers, go into Settings on your iPhone, and turn off Bluetooth.

Then on your MacBook, go into System Preferences, and click Bluetooth.

Then in your MacBook, turn Bluetooth off, then turn Bluetooth on.

Your Bluetooth speaker should then automatically turn up in your MacBook's list of Devices.

Then in your MacBook's Bluetooth, click the speaker's icon within the list of Devices, so that the speaker's icon turns dark blue.

Thanks to BusinessInsider.com for giving me the clue:

"Make sure your devices aren't already synced: If your Bluetooth headphones aren't connecting to your Mac, it may be because the headphones are already paired to another device, like your iPhone."

This unbelievably simple solution worked for me.

Let me know if it works for you

Best,

LR

This was the solution for me: I put my router back to B/G no N. I setup my Harman Kardon Aura via wifi. Now everything is working on my MacBook Air: Blue Tooth and wifi. It's al little bit of topic but now I have my music running ... My MacBook Pro 2011 doesn't connect to wifi anymore but it's no problem since I use it For production Only. Greetings from Amsterdam...

Thanks for this advise! It works for me too. As soon as I removed the JVC earbuds from MacBook (High sierra) immediately the earbuds appeared at bluetooth screen of MacMini and finally I were able to connect.
Yesterday, I spent a few hours with Apple specialists including senior staff at Ireland call center with NO result at all.
