The latest beta version (this week's release) is: UAP/USW Firmware 5.43.10.12465
Perhaps it will help with the issues.

I had this issue as well. wifi would work for a moment if I turned it off and on. I noticed that I had a SOCKS Proxy setting enabled. When deselected it would work perfectly and then reappear upon reboot. Zero items listed in login so I have no idea what is happening. I downloaded Malwarebytes after searching around a bit and one free scan later identified and disabled the adware that was doing this. My wifi works fine now. Who knows what other problems I've brought into my life. First time ever needing third party software to make my Mac work.

I have no Malware. Tired of every problem being related to Malware. It also did it again today but I notice if I disconnect from the Wi-Fi then reconnect again it starts working right away instead of having to wait 30 seconds.

see my reply to @supernet33 hth :)
your reply didnt really address the issue i'm having tho?

also i use a VPN

update though: with Big Sur for a week now, definitely having more wifi issues. I'll open my laptop and be connected to my network, but have zero internet. Rebooting helped last time, disconnecting and re-connecting didnt solve it at first...

Disabled WIFI and went physical cable to my switch. Worked for about 3 hours then dead. So this issue is not a wifi issue but a networking issue with BigSur. Frustrating as these things should never make it out to even a beta. Networking is old enough that these should just work at this point. So annoying but what can you do not like windows is any better

Sorry but you didn’t really state much other than it’s been happening since Catalina. I’d actually argue it’s been happening since mavericks; certainly on one of my macbook pros it’s been a real annoyance since high sierra. And.. It hasn’t improved on big sur. But that doesn’t solve anything for anybody...

Turning off Wi-Fi then turning it back on fixes it. At least I know I don't have a failing Wi-Fi antenna and wireless on my router is stable as I keep 2.4 and 5ghz networks separate unlike at my aunts house where it's a mess with my phone with combined networks.

My experience isn't wifi but networking in general. You can't disable wifi or restart the networking processes it is just stuck. A reboot fixes it for an unspecified amount of time.

somebody mentioned earlier (can't find the reference now) about disabling Apple Watch unlocking and it has made a difference for me. I think the logic behind this would be the issues around Apple Wireless Direct Link (AWDL), as I think the watch maybe using the that back channel for communication; and it is plagued with problems...

Just happened again trying to download a file. Turing wifi on and off fixed it as usual. No I don't own an apple watch

Have you tried using a vpn? The one i use has a heartbeat in order to operate the kill switch. That might keep the card open. I’m not suggesting you should have to, I’m just saying it might help. 🤓

just applied a unified controller update, no further AP updates, so they must be on the latest software. and still it drops out all the time unless I have a vpn going. the AP's are on
Model: UAP-AC-Pro
Version: 4.3.21.11325
I have been having the same issues with my MacBook Air and Unifi Controller. I have erased and reinstalled Big Sur 11.0.1. All other devices work fine, even my Mac mini with 11.0.1. If I turn on VPN on my Air, I am able to access the internet fine. without the vpn, I can only use my intranet.

If this is a Unifi Controller issue, I have looked on every screen in the UI and can't find the issue there.
If this is an issue with the MacBook Air, it has to be a default setting/issue with 11.0.1 since I did a complete erase/format and install. I did not have this issue on prior macOS versions.

I only have this problem with a macbook pro. I have many other apple items and macs connecting ok. I think yours is a different problem and a general configuration issue not related to this. Also, since i stopped using my watch to unlock the mac the issue has stopped. Which means the problem is specific and not related to Ubiquiti at all.

Hello,

Is this a MBP 2019? There seems to be issues with that particular edition.
Just bought a new M1 MBP, I have no issues with Big Sur and unlock with Apple Watch. Running on 2, 5 and 6 GHz bands with no modified wifi configuration on the MBP.

applesrgood88:

What is your Ubiquiti controller & AP firmware/type? It's strange it's related to the MBA only.

it's happened on the last 3 MBP's I've had, and just the MBPs (16,17 and 19). all of which I've used the a watch to unlock. my daughter now uses the 17 and she has no issues, and... she doesn't use a watch to unlock it. can't believe it's taken me so long to figure out...

OK, I'm having issues with the wifi. Doesn't work on wake and is prone to random drop outs and reconnection failures during usage.
I'm having similar issues with my 2019 MBA running 11.2.1. WiFi randomly drops while I'm working (fortunately not very often, though), and about 50% of time it doesn't connect automatically to WiFi on resume. The problem is easily fixed by manually connecting.

Anyone else having this problem?

do you use watch unlocking? if so, turn it off, that fixed it for me.
