Biggest complaint in iOS 10: AppStore updates

It appears that I was only half right about it being fixed. Only working as before on my iPhone 6S Plus, not on either my iPad 4 or iPad Mini-R. Same old dead icons. (All are still on iOS 9.3.5.)

Has it ever worked like that on iPads?

I can't recall, which is pitiful because I bought the first model of iPad on release day as a walk-in at the Apple Store. I've always checked my iPhones first, from 3Gs forward. Then when I wanted to update the iPads, I remembered which apps I'd chosen to update on the iPhone and just went ahead and did the same updates. (There are many apps that I don't update because the updated app is worse than the version I use and like.)
