I use Tomato Torrent.. once I had it on for like 4-5 days non-stop and I checked activity monitor and it still used only 14-15 MB RAM. It is a very simple software with a basic interface but it does the job for me.

Azurues is the best client there is. But, it is a memory HOG. It takes more than 70 MB RAM for me both on Windows and OS X. And add to that the sluggish and the poor interface makes it a big no-no for me.

Transmission is like Tomato but I'd prefer Tomato anyday.

I have tried just about all the apps out there...
been unsuccessfully trying to use Aquisition for torrents over the past week - never with success? it stays on the Analyzing... and never downloads - yet all the other apps I have tried work?
Official client - did stop there for a while, Aquisition, Transmission, Bits on Wheels.

Anyone else had problems with Aquisition? Or does it need to be a registered version?

hey guys,

is aquisition legal or what not? Is that $17 fee one-time or only once a year atleast? I always told myself if someone came out with a service that charges $30 or less, per year, and lets you download unlimited and actually put the songs in my ipod and do w.e. i want with them..i'd get it.

if this is true, i will deffinetly stick to my word and get this program.

Acquisition, the application, is legal. This does not mean that the material downloaded using it, is legally acquired.

The poster above said it quite nice I just want to mention that the 17 dollar charge is a one time fee only (lifetime license). The Author provides you with regular updates and patches it's actually a great program. There is a nice saying for this:

With great power comes great responsibility.

 :)

If there is a single torrent download that contains a folder of movie clips, which application will get the clips one by one instead of getting random chunks?

By doing this, the first clip is watch-able even if you have only completed 5% of the download.

I've seen other bittorrent users still leeching, and they have a nice big continuous chunk of data from the beginning to the point where they are currently up to.

I hope this makes sense!

Good Gosh! when I use Transmission, I have to wait several days for the download to finish. Am I doing anything wrong? Or is it just that I am on a Uni connection?

Oh, and it's Top Gear episodes that I am checking out FYI.

using Azureus (azureus.sourceforge.net) you can do this with a bit of tweaking. i'm not sure about any others.
