I know many people have been talking about the insides mostly the GPU. What about the outside? I think I would prefer the look of the air to have a black bezel around the screen rather than the silver. Just seems it would fit with all their other designs a bit better. I also think it helps when viewing the screen if the bezel is black its less distracting to the eye.

(I am not saying im crazy and the silver would stop me doing work or anything... just think the black would look nicer)

I know we dont have an edge to edge glass cover due to keeping weight down. But surely coloring the bezel is possible.

Sorry dont know why I made a new post... I am sure I selected to edit my original -_-

Please NO black bezels. The screen is just fine the way it is today sans glass and black bezel. This is from a black bezel glass switcher to MBA.

Do you not think doing work with a darker bezel around the screen is less distracting? I do a lot of art work etc and generally a light bezel on a screen is a bit distracting to me.

I would assume not - tons of people work off matte screens on the pros too, with the light bezel. No question the glare from the glass screens can be distracting if you're doing that kind of work, but the MBA has hardly any glare since the glossy screen seems to have some sort of AR coating on it.

I wouldnt change the screen on the air in any way, it looks fine. Its just the bezel seems odd to me. If the bezel was coated black and the screen remained the same I think it would look pretty cool.

Its the same with the ipad's for me. The white seems to distracting around the screen compared with the black. I guess its down to personal preference really.

You probably don't do much with white backgrounds, such as word processing, spreadsheets,... am I right? That's where dark bezels are a big distraction.

Well this is true. Although while I was at Uni I used my mbp most of the time and writing up dissertations etc wasnt too bad. But I can see where your coming from with the darker being the distraction.

At first I wanted a black bezel too, but I kind of like how it makes the air unique from the pros. I don't think they would do a black bezel even if it's possible, otherwise the 13" air and 13" pro would look almost exactly the same.

As things stand, I rather like the MBA the way it is - sleek, and stylish and portable. I'm neutral on the question of a black bezel, but love mine as it is. Certainly, it is no distraction at all and I love working with it.

Cheers

The silver bezel is nowhere anything like the distracting white bezel on the iPad... and really even on the white iPad its only distracting if you're trying to watch a movie or something like that.

i'd actually prefer it if the whole thing was silver.. keyboard and all. just like the old MBPs. the addition of black borders and keyboard made it too windows pc like to me when it was first introduced.

Hmm I thought the older macbook pros look hideous.. being all silver looked boring and the keys were horrible. Might look better all silver with chiclet style keys I suppose.. but I think the black looks very sleek and nice.

Question is, can we get the Pro's black bezel without the Pro's glossy glass on top?

As much as I would love a black bezel-ed air, I don't think we'll see one. I'm basing my reasoning on the fact that I doubt Apple would have selected promotional images of Lion running on an older model of what is possibly now their flagship Notebook :)

I actually like the current bezel. The only complaint I have is that there is no edge-to-edge glass overlay, leaving the current fragile screen somewhat exposed and easy to damage (no personal experience, but I've read quite a few stories about the 2010 MBA screens cracking easily)

If they slap on a fugly black bezel on to the beautiful sleek minimalist Air

I'm gonna be really really pissed!

All silver with silver keys.

Better yet, all black option!

Yes please

A black bezel on the MBA would look like a "wannabe MBP" because it would be black... but not glossy black due to lack of glass. I assume that it would just be a painted black. I like how the MBA distinguishes itself with its silver bezel. It matches the aluminum and gives the notebook a more cohesive look. That black rubber going around the screen is good enough for me and it complements the black keys and hinge.

well i read that apple did experiment with black anodized aluminum, but something with the powder coating made it real easy to make the notebook look all smudged up after just a few uses, so steve-o didn't approve it. not sure why the black macbook got ok'd then if that's the case
