I always like the clean look of the white. Plus the black is most certainly not worth the $150 premium.

I like the white and will probably go with that as soon as Apple releases some statement regarding the talk of discoloration. Well hold on, I might be waiting forever then in which case the "child" in me will want instant gratification and I will just order anyway. The black macbooks i see in the stores look oil marked up. Anyone with a black, does cleaning it get rid of the oil marks in the porous surface inside or can you always see the marks?

Sorry, really, I am... but I had to post it. Fortunately I don't remember how the tune goes.

I also noticed that all the black macbooks had lots of oil marks on them. especially on the trackpad area.

LOL... yeah... when I first got my black macbook I was devastated I could see a huge smudge of oil on my trackpad. After a couple days, now it just looks like my trackpad is glossy.

Im not too sure if this is a good thing, that it doesnt bother me anymore, or it is just utterly disgusting. But then again, having a yellow/brown stains on a macbook, is much more disgusting in my opinion. Glad i went black :p

Why Black?

Besides Macs you never see pure white laptops. You always see black and silver ones. The black ones get dirty easy anyway. I love my white one. It really satnds out and I like that. I am proud that I have a mac and i like to show it off.

I got black. The discoloration issues aside, glossy white plastic always tends to show lots of fine scratches. The matte finish (hopefully) will be a little more forgiving. So far, all of the oil marks have wiped off quite easily.

Sure, the white definitely marks you as a Mac aficionado...but so does a glowing Apple logo peering out of a stark black case. :)

The Lombard and Pismo are, in my little opinion, the pinnacle of the powerbook line. I am typing this on a Lombard which still hums along, can run Photoshop CS (thought not speedily), and has proven to be the toughest computer I've ever used in the face of abuse. It has a special place in my heart. Therefore, there was no choice in this poll for me: Black.
