Ask user 'cube' via pm. He is the resident Blackberry expert. At least imo he is.
I'd advise against asking a fanboy of anything if you're looking for the truth.
So I know this thread is over a year old but I didn't wanna start a whole new thread just to ask my question..
I can get a Q10 unlocked for $260 on eBay. I've never owned a Blackberry (pretty young when they were popular) buy I've always wanted one because of the keyboard and it just seems like a solid phone.
My question: For those who own/owned a Q10, how is it? What is the app selection like now in September of 2014? I know it was pretty small when BB10 launched, but how about now? My app needs aren't that iOS-exclusive, but these are the apps that are must-have for me: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, ESPN Scorecenter, Weather Channel, Pandora.
I have an iPhone 5, and have determined that a an upgrade to the 6/6 Plus isn't for me. Don't wanna waste my 2-year upgrade now, as I'll just wait until the S models come out next year but I want something different to experience.
I sold a Q10 for about $200 not long ago, so $260 seems a little steep.
The app selection is dismal and getting worse. Blackberry recently made a strategic decision to basically abandon consumers, along with consumer apps. Their app store is now meant only for business apps. They've added access to the Amazon Android app store to supplement apps. Android apps are a very poor experience on BB10. Many of them don't work properly, and the ones that do are often laggy and have poor UIs (especially on the Q10 which they were never designed for).
As for the apps you asked about:
Facebook and Twitter both have apps made by blackberry themselves rather than the actual companies. Both apps have terrible reviews in the app store and are not enjoyable to use.
Youtube - nope
Instagram - nope
ESPN - available with dozens of 1-star reviews saying the app stopped working months ago.
Weather - lots of weather apps
Pandora - nope
If you're looking for a different experience, I'd advise against BB10. You're basically buying a sub-par Android phone in that case. If you want Android, just get Android. If you want something significantly different, try Windows Phone.
