I just want HomeKit to work better. I have like twenty something devices and not a day goes by anymore without something not working the way it should... and this is after I reset my whole home and got a new router cus I was having a problem with things constantly saying updating and not working... it all worked wonderfully in 2017

Would a european size dimmer be to much to ask for, as of now the moon is gonna be populated before it happens

With the size of Apple, I actually think it's a bit worrying how slow they are putting out new products.
Comparing with Google, which has multiple new lines of business every year. While Apple is mostly comfortable within their established products. Sure, they are adding new services, and that makes their existing products more valuable, but they should be growing in both directions.

You mean like this? Not 100% but think it only works with Hue though.

I would like to see a return of Wifi routers, maybe one with HomeKit hubs integrated so we don't need hubs from other brands.
Yes! I miss the AirPort line and felt that Apple did a great job of combining powerful hardware and easy-to-use software for that classic it-just-works Apple touch. It was a good part of the overall ecosystem and it would be welcome back with open arms by many of us.

The current iterations of Airplay2, iOS 13.1.2, HomePod, and Apple 4kTV are horribly unsynchronized. It's a mess that needs desperate attention. Apple seems to be more focused on how a product looks and feels than how they operate in a synchronized system.

Before they invest more assets in developing additional HomeKit devices, please improve your device firmware and iOS software.
What AirPlay issues are you having? AirPlay has been rock solid for me regardless if I'm sending the audio to a Sonos speaker or HomePod.

Would love to see Apple launch an in-house team to compete with Nest, which is the company they should’ve acquired years ago (before Google
got it) and expanded into the smart home market.

They’ll never sell as many thermostats as iPhones, but with a solid line of 5-6 home products with tight integration, they’d have a huge attachment rate and tons of ecosystem stickiness.

Remember when everything worked for PC/Windows, but almost nothing worked for Mac? And when it did have Mac support, it was somehow inferior to the equivalent Windows functionality? I feel like Alexa vs HomeKit is today’s “PC vs Mac” compatibility era. Basically everything works for Alexa, and only if we’re very lucky, we get some kind of shoe-horned in, afterthought, incomplete support for HomeKit.

I’m a fan of the concepts behind HomeKit, especially when it comes to security and privacy. But at the end of the day, the ecosystem is not only inferior, but also almost an order of magnitude more expensive. I think the Apple target market is willing to pay a premium for a premium product, so I don’t necessarily think that price is the main issue.

Plain and simple, HomeKit needs some serious help. I hate to say it, but I’m tired of waiting and Alexa is looking good right now.

Many instead of adding toys to the HomeKit line, they should focus on giving Siri a brain. It is embarrassing that s/he can't answer simple questions from the dictionary, wiki, etc. I love my three homepods but I'm not investing anymore until Siri sees a 500% increase in brain capacity. Siri has been around eight years will very little investment in improving it.

Precisely. Now is the good time to bounce back and bring their router line-up.

It is due to the tight control that Apple wants to have on the ecosystem. They aren't open as Google or Amazon does it today.

Apple is the only manufacturer of HomeKit hubs (currently AppleTVs, HomePods, and iPads). If you mean building a bridge to the 200 flavors of Zigbee, Z-Wave, Insteon, etc., I would be a bit surprised if they did that, as then they would be responsible for the problems with these devices not following their specs.

I would be happy to see a new WiFi mesh router with Siri (like the product from Google), but I do not really expect it to happen.

I'd love for Apple to support a Z-Wave or Zigbee bridge that connected all Zigbee/ZWave standards compliant devices to HomeKit. Homebridge and Rpi and Z-Wave dongle does this but its not a nice all-in-one solution.

The lack of support for HomeKit is precisely why I'd be down with an Apple bridge. Local control. Most IoT/Smart devices run via the cloud, basically obsoleting them if the company ever goes out of business. Never mind the option to charge subscription monies. I have nothing against the cloud, but I tend to prioritize devices that also have a local option. Hue does both (also open SDK/API), Ikea Tradfri, Lutron... most of the same companies that also support HomeKit. A few years back there was talk of a generic hub from a 3rd party company but I think its against Apple's ToS, each device needs to come from the same manufacturer. Its why you can pair Tradfri Bulbs with a Hue hub and they work with the hue app but they won't be visible to HomeKit. If they relaxed that requirement they could tap into the entire existing Z-Wave/Zigbee devices ecosystem with a hub.
