Here’s what Apple is planning for the new iPad Pro, according to people familiar with the plans:

  • Nearly edge-to-edge screens with slimmer, symmetrical bezels like the latest iPhones.
  • A USB-C connector for charging and syncing data, the first time Apple is bringing this charging standard to its iOS devices. This will leave the iPhone as Apple’s only major product to use the Lightning connector. It will also be the first time Apple has changed the charging port on iOS devices since 2012.
  • Face ID will be used for unlocking the new iPad, and the Home button and fingerprint scanner will be removed. Unlike with iPhones, Face ID will work in both portrait and landscape orientations.
  • Face ID will enable Animojis (and the personalized variety known as Memojis) on iPads for the first time.
  • The screens will be less expensive LCD panels, rather than the OLED screens on the iPhone XS.
  • The iPad’s external look will be redesigned as well. It will include more squared-off sides like the iPhone 5, 5S, and SE from a few years ago.
  • A faster processor that’s a variant of the A12 Bionic chip recently added to the iPhone XS and iPhone XR.
  • A custom Apple graphics chip, the first time this would be included in an iPad.
  • An updated Apple Pencil, succeeding the original version launched in 2015.

The custom graphics chip stands out, but mostly because it seems wrong, so that leaves open what did the source really mean? Surely there isn't a separate GPU. Does it mean there will be brand new GPU cores or just an upgraded number of GPU cores like every other AXx Apple processor?

The edges of the iPhone 5 had very little weight / pressure applied onto your skin.. a ~1.4lb iPad not so much
doesn't matter, the new ipads will weight about the same, but the shape of iphone 5 will offer a more pleasant long time usage. is all about the physics

I’m not understanding your logic. I’ve never heard anyone say that the hard edges of the 5 are more comfortable to hold than the rounded edges of the 6.

I took it to mean a custom Apple-designed GPU like iPhones have had since last year.

But the new ones will have sharp edges on both sides....

[doublepost=1540732222][/doublepost]almost 90 degrees on both side, where the current ipad pro the angle between the display and the case is sub 90 degrees, around 60...so sharper and you feel that when you hold it in portrait mode especially
Again, you will see, if you will buy the new one

again, first we need to see it officially because until now, we never saw a leak unit, just some CAD

Seems wrong? Lol

Go read about the A12 in the latest iPhones. It makes perfect sense. Anandtech.com

[doublepost=1540743553][/doublepost]I wonder if this new ipad will have bigger bezels than the side 10.5" ones

Well, then, let me be the first. I HATED the iPhone 6 (and later) edges—felt like holding a slippery bar of soap. I really enjoyed the 5 and now have an SE. I welcome this change on the 12.9 iPad. I’m not a fun of FaceID vs. TouchID whatsoever but the camphered edges may offset that.

I can conclude from this report the iPad Pro will either have a bigger screen or a smaller, thinner, lighter casing.

I didn’t read the Anandtech review and a half dozen more. Did you read my comment? It seems wrong because then GPU is not a separate chip like Bloomberg said. It is an integrated part of the SOC. So what did the leaker really mean?

Yes, but the wording is weird since it isn’t new and it isn’t a separate chip.
