Be interesting to see if Apple decide to go for Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, considering they are a member of both parties.

Blu Ray, I'd think. They were involved with Blu Ray first, and HD DVD is predictably falling behind. Microsoft and Toshiba seem to be it's biggest proponents (maybe it's only big proponents?)

I would buy all of that if Apple didn't include a way to make HD-DVD's in their movie suite.

if they're going to put blue ray in anything they'll put it into the mac pro first..

Exactly what I was going to post. No way are we going to see these in laptops before the MP.

Arguably a Blu Ray drive in a laptop is more useful to some people (as you might be more likely to use it to watch movies, unless your PC is your DVR).

According to that article the GMA GPU in SR doesn't have hardware for high bitrate H.264 decoding. The GPU in the MBP has hardware to do the decoding, it is up to Apple to enable it. I doubt they will though, it would make their other systems look bad if they can't do it across the board (I assume).

I hope they do get drivers for it-if they haven't already. The Geforce 8600 offloads almost all of video playback even for H.264.
