Hmmmmm. Bitdefender? Honestly, since dumping windows as my daily operating system of choice in 2008, I've been running 10 years without slowing my machine down with antivirus/malware software.

What has Bitdefender caught / saved your mac from?

It doesn't run in the background. I scan specific files in specific locations when something gets downloaded from the internet. That's all it's used for. I have a wife and kids that use my Mac sometimes and they aren't as carful about activities as I am.

Thanks for sharing. Every tool has it's purpose and it sounds like BitDefender works well for your needs.

Latest beta of 10.14.1 with BootROM 140.0.0.0.0 supports now NATIVELY NVME blades. They show up as external drives, but there is no longer any hack needed to get them working!

Happy days! I’ve been struggling with 240gb on my AHCI Accelsior boot drive. Time to grab a large NVME to replace it!

Does anyone having trouble login to iMessage and FaceTime by doing re-routing? I can not login to both app, but the apps are fine if I do regular boot instead of re-routing. any idea?

Don’t boot with rerouting. It seems like the only option if you want to use those apps. Apple is probably detecting you cMP as a Hackintosh as you are not following the Supported boot path.

Hi misanthrophy, are U saying that 10.14.1 will boot NVME natively as boot drive? how can I update BootRom from 138.0.0.0.0 to 140.0.0.0.0? tnx!!!

I have tried this last night
I have cut/pasted all those control lines into Terminal.
I did not know exactly what to do when it asked me for a password at the end.
I typed my Mac password and hit return.
I then booted from the NVMeBoot USB-stick, the Mac booted up into the black screen with a lot of text where I spotted some (I think) errors.
After boot my MacPro 2009 (5,1) now indicated Startup disk in "about this Mac" and in the "System Preferences"
I left my Mac on overnight. This morning I found that it had restarted because an error had occurred and it had restarted back to the old startup disk.
I have tried everything again with the same result.

Here is my com.apple.Boot.plist
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Kernel Cache</key>
<string>/System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/kernelcache</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>boot-uuid=7D157119-0CE8-4761-B474-0BBFFC9D9149 rd=*uuid -v</string>
</dict>
</plist>

Could somebody tell me where to find a copy of all those control-lines in the black screen at startup from the NVMeBoot disk? Somewhere in System/Library/??
I think I will soon install Mojave.

Don't spend your time with this. Apple now has native NVMe support for MP5,1 since BootROM 140.0.0.0.0.

Read here what you have to do to upgrade your firmware: MP5,1: What you have to do to upgrade to Mojave
