Hello,

I got a MBA and I read the boot times are around 7-10 secs. However, I have consistently noticed my boot times are around 15secs. I have the 13'' model with 4GB so I'm curious to how others here are able to achieve such speeds?

ONly startup Item I have is the ITunesHelper and not other apps really.

Also, are people timing the boot ime from the the point of the power-on button or after the screen displays the logo?

People are terribly inaccurate when it comes to measuring boot up time. Ask most people and they would say their laptop boots up in a minute, in reality it's probably closer to 2-3 minutes. I think 15 seconds is about as good as it gets for the MBA.

Mine boots in around 15secs though I haven't measured it. Maybe some people stop the time when it gets to the login screen which is not the right way. Loading desktop takes easily few seconds

Based on the amount of time I've wasted watching Windows reboot time and time again in my life, I am not going to complain one bit about the approximate 30 seconds or so it took for my MBA to reboot this morning while installing a program.

If anyone is saying they get 7-10 seconds they are most likely timing it after the boot chime comes on. You're suppose to time it from the time you press the power button. And OP, 15....even 20 seconds is good as it takes 35 for my Macbook Pro which has a 7200 rpm drive. :)

Pretty much 13-15 seconds from being completely off.
Yeah, me too. In the interest of science I just rebooted and timed how long it took between the time I pressed the Power button until the desktop was fully populated. Including the time it took for the MBA's Airport client to reconnect to my wireless router, the entire process took 17 seconds. I then timed how long it would take Windows 7 to load in a VMware Fusion VM. That took more time, 57 seconds.

It all seems irrelevant since the machine will standby for up to 30 days.

btw my brand new 13" MBA boots in 20-24 seconds to a USEABLE desktop. 7 seconds? I doubt...

My boot ups, with nothing authorized to run at start-up, has been around 25 seconds since updating to 10.6.5. :(

Has this happened to anyone else?
